Gran nodded firmly as the child killed the large plant. She was certain of it now. Or rather, she knew how she could be certain. She smiled coldly as the enemy pixelated and exploded, and she went through her menu's inventory, stopping on the rusty sword she still had. She equipped the crappy sword and gripped it in her main hand firmly. Closing her menu, she hopped off the rock, landing in a dueling pose. She had one hand balled in a fist behind her back, the other hand holding the sword almost like a rapier, except a little too far out to the right to be considered such. She positioned her legs in something close to the what people who did yoga called the "warrior".
"It's been a while since I've held this stance," Gran smirked at the child and tilted her head a bit, "Then again, I don't know if they still teach you young ones old styles like this. Maybe I should try another . . ."
She tried to think of which stance the girl would recognise, but sighed and shook her head. Her time in that village hadn't been long. With a shrug, Gran twirled the sword and reopened her menu to equip the mace again. That had been the same stance that Ken brat had taught her, but she wasn't even sure if the other members even used the style. She gave the girl a sheepish smile and shrugged, "Maybe I'm just an old lady making assumptions, excuse me." raiken

Shock ran through Raiken's mind at the stance that the old woman had performed. It was a stance that her grandfather had created, after he had came back from France. Her grandfather was a traitor because he left the village without permission and had never returned. It had been a number of years before the young girl's birth that he had left. Raiken's mother had showed Raiken the stance before this death game had started.
Her facial expression did not change due to the shock that she had underwent mere seconds before. There were only a few people in the world that had ever visited the village where Raiken lived in. There were even fewer that had survived leaving the village. This woman was one of those few people. She definitely would have to report this development to the council should she live through this game.
The woman in front of Raiken was even more dangerous than Raiken had thought before. Keeping her blade out of it's sheathe, Raiken went through her menu and sent a friend request to Gran if only to keep an eye on the older woman. Since she did indeed learn some techniques from the village, Raiken might as well see if the woman would help train the young teenager while the game was going on.
"That stance isn't taught anymore, only a very few know it," she said carefully not wanting the woman to learn her relationship to the one that must of taught the old woman the stance. She also let the woman know of her relation to the village to see her reaction. Raiken did look a lot like her mother who had her fathter's amethyst colored eyes like Raiken had.

Gran's face fell into a dangerous expression. A shadow fell over her brow and she smiled. She could tell Raiken was surprised, but there was something else there. Hostility, perhaps? Raiken was pretty good at stifling and hiding her emotions, Gran had to admit. But the fact that she had suppressed the emotion so quickly had Gran on edge. Something had definitely happened since the last time she'd visited that village. She recalled how she'd stumbled upon it. She'd been paid to track down an assassin who had killed someone of importance. Simple sniff 'em out mission, her squad leader had called it. Her chase had ended in that village. The entire place was like out of an anime or an American action film. She'd been captured and locked up for questioning. Her escape had made one of the village members interested in her. She smiled at Raiken, the resemblance suddenly clear in the facial features and violet colours.
Then she frowned. What had Ken done? Gran shook her head, doubting she'd find out for a good long while. And then she was alerted with the friend request. She had a sneaking suspicion that Raiken didn't intend to be very chummy with her. With a shrug, Gran accepted the request and smiled at the kid, "They don't teach it anymore, hm? A shame. It countered practically every other blade stance the villagers used."
Gran's smile grew a bit darker as she suggested how easily she could best Raiken in combat. Ken had only taught her the style to protect her from the other styles, after all. It was really the only reason she'd survived the encounter in the first place. She tried to recall just how many fights she had gotten in just trying to leave that place. Thinking about it, she realised the man must've done something against the wishes of the rest of the village. He seemed the sort to go against the grain. From that stand point alone, it made sense that Raiken might get a little defensive. raiken

QUEST?: Mistletoe TAGS: granxgran NOTES: All your notes in here, don't worry this entire box scrolls. Raiken listened to the woman's final words before shivering slightly. It was starting to get too cold for her to be out there even with dulled senses. Part of the young girl just wanted to hand in this quest and go to a inn and burrow into a nice hot bath or blanket until the season changed to spring. "Can we turn this quest in now, please?" She asked as she pulled the cloak around her tighter after sheathing her blade.
She didn't care if the woman found her suspicious at the moment, Raiken just wanted to get out of the cold and quickly before she froze to death. Not that it was possible in SAO, but it was reaching very cold temperatures. As her breath fogged up more, Raiken quickly told the old woman goodbye and quickly ran towards the NPC that gave out the mission forgetting that Gran had the mistletoe within her inventory.
