[attr="class","link-back"] [attr="class","link-title"]EQUIPMENT AND CRAFTING [attr="class","link-text"] [attr="class","link-text2"]Welcome to the items and crafting guide for Link Start! Please read through everything to get a basic understanding of how everything works! If you have any questions after reading through the thread, feel free to PM ¡PEPPER! . [attr="class","link-title"]EQUIPMENT [attr="class","link-text"] [attr="class","link-text2"] First, let's talk about the items you'll be handling the most- your equipment! Here at Link Start, you can have up to 9 pieces of equipment on your character at any time. These pieces go into slots. The slots are: HEAD: Eye wear, masks, helmets, hats, ect go here. CHEST: Shirts, coats, armor, dresses, ect go here. LEGS: Pants, skirts, chaps, ect go here. HANDS: Gloves, bracelets, gauntlets, ect go here. FEET: Boots, Sandals, any types of shoes really go here. BACK: Cloaks and Robes go here. ACCESSORY: Special event and quest reward items like jewelry or pendants will go here. WEAPON: This is where you put what your character attacks with. You can read more about weapons in our Combat System Thread. OFF HAND: This will generally be where shields go, if you choose to use one. Your character can have one piece of equipment in each slot. Equipment all give special stat boosts dependent on their levels and are a big help! In a fight, having a better piece of equipment can mean all the difference. Whenever your character gains a new piece of equipment, please post in this character updates thread so a staff member can add it to your inventory. So, how do you get this awesome stuff? Well, on Link Start, equipment can be obtained through three distinct ways: CRAFTING: You or another Player can craft equipment depending on their crafting skill and levels. You'll be able to read more about this down below. QUESTING: Certain quests give equipment rewards along with the regular rewards! You can read more about this in our Quests, Raids and Labyrinths Thread. LOOTING: During events, dungeons and boss raids, players have a chance of getting some special equipment dropped! While this is the primary method to get accessories, other pieces of equipment will often drop too! You can read more about this in our Quests, Raids and Labyrinths Thread.

[attr="class","link-back"] [attr="class","link-title"]EQUIPMENT TYPES [attr="class","link-text"] [attr="class","link-text2"]So, now that we know how many pieces of armor we can use and how to get them, let's go over the four different types of equipment. We will not be discussing weapons as they are fully explained in the Combat Thread. CLOTHE: Clothe armor is created using the Tailoring skill and pieces of clothe. This armor allows for more versatility in stats and more unique appearances all depending on the tailor! However, while you have complete control of the stats that this armor gives, at the end of the day, it gives less stats than the other pieces. This armor is often favored by players who don't go into combat or try playing more supportive roles.
LEATHER: Leather armor is created using the Tailoring skill and pieces of leather. Leather armor offers decent protection and a boost to Dexterity. However, it cannot boost Constitution past a certain amount. Furthermore, a certain amount of the armor's stat boost must be dedicated to Dexterity, making it less versatile than Clothe. Fortunately, leather armor gives more stats overall than clothe armor does. This armor is often favored by players who enjoy fast movement and sprinting across the battle field.
CHAIN: Chain armor is created using the Armor Smithing skill and pieces of metal ore. Chain armor offers a happy middle between the extremely Dexterity focused leather armor and the Constitution focused plate armor. However, it cannot boost Dexterity past a certain amount. Furthermore, a certain amount of the armor's stat boost must be dedicated to Constitution, making it less versatile than Clothe. Fortunately, chain armor gives more stats overall than clothe armor does. This armor is the most favored by players as a whole- often being the most used armor.
PLATE: Plate armor is created using the Armor Smithing skill and metal ingots. Plate armor offers extreme protection. However, it cannot boost Dexterity past a certain amount. Furthermore, a certain amount of the armor's stat boost must be dedicated to Constitution, making it less versatile than Clothe. Fortunately, plate armor gives more stats overall than clothe armor does. This armor is often favored by players who enjoy combat at the front lines and protecting others. So, each type of equipment has it's clear advantages and disadvantages. To add to this, each piece of equipment has it's own level. This level decides how strong the stat boost is. The item level, along with the stats granted on it, are all decided randomly by staff when someone crafts a piece of equipment. Furthermore, armor level does not dictate who can wear said piece of armor. We'll go into further detail on crafting equipment below.

[attr="class","link-back"] [attr="class","link-title"]CRAFTING LICENSES [attr="class","link-text"] [attr="class","link-text2"]So, all this equipment sounds pretty cool right? You can't wait to get some for your character, but you dont want to wait for an event and you don't like any of the equipment being offered with this week's quests, huh? Well, that's where crafting comes in! The first thing you need is a crafting skill! These can be found in Link Start's shop under the Crafting Skill tab! You'll see we several skills that each craft a different thing! As you can see, skills tend to cost quite a bit! If you'd rather spend your money elsewhere, you can commission another player who has the skill you need for what you want. However, let's go over the four different crafting skills and show what can be made with them: Armor Crafting License: This is a basic crafting license that unlocks the Armor Crafting skill! This is a free skill that allows for players to construct crude clothe armor. You need this before you can get the Tailoring Crafting License or Armor Smithing License, but it's fine- this skill is free!
Tailoring Crafting License: This is a more advanced crafting license that allows for players to make higher level clothe armor- and now leather armor!
Armor Smithing Crafting License: This is a more advanced crafting license that allows for players to start making chain and plate armor.
Weapon Crafting License: This crafting skill allows for the user to create all sorts of weapons!
Chef License: This crafting skill allows for you to mix a certain number of ingredients together to form buffs! Be careful though, when cooking, there is a chance of ruining a dish by mixing together the wrong ingredients. Whether you choose to commission an item or make it yourself, you'll need the material to make it. Like with skills, materials can be found in Link Start's shop under the Crafting Materials tab. You can get a general gist of what you need to purchase for one piece of armor or equipment there! Generally, you'll need 5 pieces of material, with the type of material needed varying dependent on what you want to make. Materials can be traded to other players, so you can provide your crafter with all the needed materials for your equipment. We'll go over the process of making the actual armor down below and then how to trade it!

[attr="class","link-back"] [attr="class","link-title"]CRAFTING [attr="class","link-text"] [attr="class","link-text2"]So, now that you or the player you commissioned to make your equipment have all your materials and skill levels in order, you can finally make it! First, the person crafting needs to make a crafting thread in the Crafting Subforum of the Marketplace. Only the thread's creator and staff members are allowed to post in this thread. In this thread, you will keep track of all your crafting. When you have the materials to craft an item, post in your thread using the provided template in the Crafting Subforum. A staff member will go and randomly generate the equipment and the stats and level granted to said equipment. For those curious about the general range of stats and limits found in your equipment, you can find the guidelines staff follow below: LEVEL F CLOTHE ARMOR: +0-1 to stat. Levels 1-5. LEVEL E CLOTHE ARMOR: +2-5 to stat. Levels 6-20. LEVEL D CLOTHE ARMOR: +6-15 to stats. Levels 21-40. LEVEL C CLOTHE ARMOR: +16-25 to stats. Levels 41-60. LEVEL B CLOTHE ARMOR: +26-35 to stats. Levels 61-80 LEVEL A CLOTHE ARMOR: +36-45 to stats. 81-100

Levels 81-100 Now then, let's move onto how to trade items from one another. First, the person trading or selling the armor needs to make a thread in the Marketplace forum. This will be their shop thread. Follow the template provided in the Marketplace forum when making your thread. After the person receiving the armor posts that they approve of the trade or purchase, a staff member will process this and let you know when it has been completed. [attr="class","link-title"]ITEMS [attr="class","link-text"] [attr="class","link-text2"]
Finally, let's go over how to use items in threads.
Items or, consumables, will generally have varying effects from adding stats to restoring HP to very specific effects. Most of these items will be granted as quest or dungeon rewards, however some can be bought from the shop!
The most commonly used item will be HP potions. They're pretty handy and really useful! These can be purchased at the shop. Like crafting materials, you can also trade or gift these to other players.
You can only use one HP potion per post however- so be careful!
For food consumables, you may use one per thread and the buff lasts the entire thread! Buffs may not stack, and if you eat more than one dish, the previous buff will be wiped out- even if it was higher. You may share food effects with people in your party, but you may not share tea.
This rule generally runs across all consumable items. You can only use one per post- even if you're using different types of consumables.
Once you use a consumable, it is your job to post in the notification thread so a staff member can properly adjust your items. If you dont do this, you might get in trouble!
And that's it! You've made it through the Equipment and Crafting thread! Yay!
