PG-13 • Due to the PROBOARDS TERMS OF SERVICE, the rating of LINK START is PG-13. This means that posts that show graphic violence, nudity or language need to be either censored or 'faded to black'. Please respect the rating of the board, and thank you for your understanding.[attr="class","link-text2"]
[attr="class","link-rules-point"]2
RESPECT • Respect for your fellow members is crucial. Joking around is alright, but when another member asks you to cease what you're doing, respect their wishes and stop. If you have a problem with someone on the site, don't bring it up on the site or in the c-box. If you have a problem with another site, please don't bring it up on the site or in the c-box. Be courteous and civil to while you're on the site. This does not mean you have to forever be nice, you just have to be courteous.[attr="class","link-text2"]
[attr="class","link-rules-point"]3
ACTIVITY • We don't expect you to post everyday, but we do expect you to keep on top of your posts. At least once every two weeks is required, but we hope to give you enough incentive to post more! If you feel like the current plot has nothing for you to do in it, please ask your fellow members and your staff what can be done. IMPORTANT: If a player does not pass an activity check, the characters that did not pass go into a state called MISSING IN ACTION. If the player proceeds to fail the next activity check, that character becomes DECEASED, and the character will not be accessible to be replayed if the player returns to the site.[attr="class","link-text2"]
[attr="class","link-rules-point"]4
LITERACY • Pay attention to your writing, both in your profile and in your character. While we do not demand perfect literacy, we do demand a basic grasp of the English language. If a member or a staff member doesn't understand a post that you've written, they are well within their right to politely ask you to please rephrase or edit your post. Make sure that your post is actually legible, or we'll ask you to change it. This includes fonts that can't be read, colors that can't be read, tiny fonts, etc. If the post hasn't been changed after someone asks you to change it, we'll simply delete your post.[attr="class","link-text2"]
[attr="class","link-rules-point"]5
REALISM • While the site is based off of an anime, your character is not invincible. We have a strict policy against godmodding due to the nature of the site. Your character can and will take hits from appropriate targets, and your character won't hit their target 100% of the time.[attr="class","link-text2"]
[attr="class","link-rules-point"]6
ACCOUNTS • You must register with your character's in-game name, your display name must be your character's in-game name and it may not have any spaces or numerals in order to keep with the general aesthetic of the game. Special characters are allowed. Icons are 200x300. One character per account.[attr="class","link-text2"]
[attr="class","link-rules-point"]7
CHARACTERS • Players are allowed to create as many characters as they can keep up with-- the approval process is quick, and if your character goes inactive, at least it'll be more fodder for the death wall. If a player's character dies, that player is allowed to make a new character with half of the levels of the previous character as compensation. The players will not level up past a certain level until the story is ready for them. At certain intervals in the site's life, we will be raising the initial character starting level of the site in order to help new members become accommodated with the current storyline and to help the older members have people that they can actually raid with. Existing members below the current initial level will be boosted to it as well. This will never be a boost that will keep you up with the top level players, but it will give you a sufficient headstart.[attr="class","link-text2"]
[attr="class","link-rules-point"]8
FACE CLAIMS • All characters need to have a face claim from anime, manga or game drawn in animanga style. Players are not allowed to take a face claim from Sword Art Online, as the characters of Sword Art Online are in the game as characters being played by the staff. Original drawings are only permitted if the player can prove that they themselves drew the drawing and if the drawing is of a sufficient quality. If a player is deceased, that face claim is back up for grabs. If you have chosen to come in with a partner roleplayer to play a sibling, family member, twin, or someone else of similar age that is related to your character, the two of you may use the same face claim if you wish and if the two of you agree to it. If your faceclaim is from the same series as another person's faceclaim, but has enough similarities between them that it could easily be mistaken for that face claim, then you must ask permission from the other person to be a relative (sibling, twin, cousin) of that person, and then and only then are you allowed to use the face claim. Examples of strongly similar faceclaims include: a hairstyle change, a switched eye color, a switched hair color, a slightly decreased or increased height with the same physical features, a slightly larger or smaller version of the other face claim, etc. NOTE: this is only for face claims from the same series. NOTE II: If the character is featured in a different set of clothing, with a different set of equipment, or something else not related to their physical body, it does not count as a 'different character'. NOTE III: The staff have final say on all face claim acceptances, and while we will try to explain ourselves as best as we can, our say is still final, and we apologize for the inconvenience.[attr="class","link-text2"]
[attr="class","link-rules-point"]9
POSTING • The post count at Link Start is a minimum of 150 words per post for every post submitted in character. Try to keep your spelling and grammar correct, and write in third person. Posting templates are not required, but you're free to use one so long as the text in it is LEGIBLE. Link Start runs in semi-liquid time, in that a player can have as many threads running as they want, but time moves forward and characters do age, time does move as the levels are cleared, and the seasons do pass in game the same as they do in the real world.[attr="class","link-title"]TIPS

[attr="class","link-text2"]
[attr="class","link-rules-point"]1
HISTORY • While Link Start doesn't require you to write out a history, do try to keep one in mind for your character in order to help fuel their motivations and their personality. If you need to, put up a plotter and make sure you put up a few history notes in your plotter! However, please note that staff members have the right to request changes to character history should they become problematic. [attr="class","link-text2"]
[attr="class","link-rules-point"]2
SOCIALIZE • Try to get to know the players on the site out of character! You may be able to come up with some plots in the c-box that you wouldn't normally have come up with. We also do not officially support a private Skype chat or Discord chat for our members-- we want to create a warm, including environment.[attr="class","link-text2"]
[attr="class","link-rules-point"]3
CREATIVITY • Come up with an original character and with some original character goals for your character. When there's a downtime between events, try to come up with tasks for your character to do, and if you can't find things to do, ask! It'll help with motivation in the long run, and we're here to help you write a story as best we can.Last Edit: Nov 15, 2016 14:08:32 GMT -6 by SALT!
