@open - feel free to approach and encourage The first floor of Aincrad had a little of everything. Near the town of Horunka, there was a small forest. There was a lake by Tolbana, the town closest to the labyrinth: it was probably the last settlement people'd reach before the adventurers would try to scale the tower. Ruler hadn't made the attempt to reach Tolbana yet. He had instead travelled towards the centre of the floor, where a large mountain stood. Though there were some monsters about, the boy'd managed to avoid most of them. Although the monsters weren't very strong yet, for a newbie like Ruler, each battle to the death was an exhilirating experience he'd rather avoid. Still, they were mostly boars. Because he was cautious, it took Ruler significantly longer than he'd liked to reach the mountain.
He pushed his back up against the mountain wall, carefully peeking around the corner. There was a path that would lead up onto the mountain proper, and it was probably easier than scaling the mountain itself. Normally, Ruler would've immediately ran at the sloping path to begin his climb. But today, he did not, and for a good reason: a monster blocked the path. Judging from its shape, the boar was like every other boar in the game, and he'd already managed to avoid five. This one looked like it'd be the sixth he'd avoid, and the young boy wasn't sure yet if he wanted to. Boars weren't strong, but he reminded himself every time that dying to a boar would not only be lame, but also permanent. Thus, he used extra discretion. That extra discretion did not stop him from peering out as much as he could when someone else approached the trail... and if they weren't careful, the boar.

[nospaces] [break] sweet dreams are made of you An E-rank quest. [break][break] Meant to be difficult, sure, but at the same time it was just climbing up a mountain. The worst part however, is that the quest can't be taken solo. No quest can - it's right there in the fine text. It's interesting, but she remembers last time she went up this path. She also remembers how even the little pigs were much stronger then they were in the beta. So that meant she had to be cautious to a point - she wasn't fully decked out in equipment, no, but she had enough she thinks to deal with this. And a new sword in hand, and hopefully, with this quest down, she could get a stat point and work on her dex requirements. [break][break] Her steps slowed at the base of the mountain, because sure she had the quest, but it wasn't active as she didn't meet the requirements of a party. [break][break] What slowed her however, was more then that. It was a person at the base, and a boar she was slowly striding to. Tilting her her, the blonde felt a smirk come on her face, before her steps bounced towards the boy. Well, it looked like a boy, she couldn't be sure of their age either. ''Hey! Fancy meetin' someone else out here.'' she said, her tone light and cheerful. Finally, she drew abreast to the kid - she thought kid because she's taller then him - and just gave him a smile. ''Not gonna pressure ya, but quests can't be done solo yaknow? So how 'bout we party up, show that boar a good time, and get this shebang on the road.'' she said. [break][break] No use beating around the bush as it were. [break][break] It was quite obvious he was here for the quest and so was she. Combining their talents together might make it easier for the pair to get some things done, and fulfill the stupid requirement. She passed a hand through her blonde hair, waiting the boy's answer as she took stock of the boar, watching it with a weary eye. They'd have to be careful because sure, they were strong in the beta, but that meant they could be much stronger now. Because it wouldn't be easy, no it couldn't be for that man, he wanted them to try didn't he? [break][break] Well Canary can think on that later, waiting on the answer from the kid. Ruled peered at the boar for just a bit longer. He remembered the one he'd fought before, alongside both Otsuki and Diz. This time, he was alone, and the boy wasn't sure he could actually handle it. If he gave up, then that was that. He had proven to himself that he could handle going this far, but no further. A feeling gnawed at him, though: if they were going to clear this game, then everyone had to step forward at some point, even if they felt like going back would be easier. The easy way'd see them trapped here forever, or until they died. Ruler stared at the new player for a moment, mulling over in his mind if this was a player, or an NPC. The moment they mentioned a quest, however, all doubt cleared from his mind. "Wait, really?" He opened his menu to quickly glance at the quest. Sure enough, something about it looked different from the previous quests he'd done. "So the game encourages teamwork..." Ruler mumbled, more to himself than anyone. He looked up to the girl (lady?) who'd suggested partying, and wordlessly shot her a party invite. The swordsman gestured to the boar blocking their way to the trail. "Weeell... I was thinking it's probably a better idea to just avoid it, right?" On the other hand, killing monsters earnt you experience and col, and if you were lucky a good drop. He kind of wanted to fight it!

[nospaces] [break] sweet dreams are made of you And tap, the invite was accepted with a singular, smooth motion. [break][break] The motion of someone that knew the interface well. The woman just smiled at the kid, before shaking her head. ''Yeah really, there's a reason there's a lookin' for group beacon button next to the party invite one. Ya can't take a single quest by yourself, the game basically forces ya to be with other people. Which is smart, if ya ask me, it makes it so that people gotta get together.'' she said, before shrugging. ''But I think not fightin' that boar will harm ya in the long run. The exp and col it drops are pretty good from what I remember, and well it doesn't take much to run circles around it honestly.'' she said. [break][break] She didn't explicitly say it, but she knew that people would be able to make a guess from her clues thus far. [break][break] She wasn't going to straight up say it either, she was just going to leave it up to the other to broach it or not. The blonde scratched the back of her neck however, letting out a thoughtful hum. ''Although, it'd be a bit risky with it on the hill like that. Probably should draw it to over here, so there's enough space. Feelin' up to takin' on the boar kid?'' she said, the word slipping out easily. But it was easy to tell she didn't mean anything degrading by it. It was almost like it was a habit to her, as she easily stepped into the role of a big sister for anyone, old and young. [break][break] She was checking her equipment and items, whilst waiting for the boy's answer to her newly posed question. [break][break] Ruler[googlefont="Muli|Pavanam"]

Ruler nodded, listening intently to Canary's explanation. That made sense, and it explained why people were always near when doing quests. In fact, it'd explain why he hadn't been able to find that Locket until Shoichi'd come along. He silently regretted not having had the opportunity to read the manual before commencing with the game. A regret that continued to haunt him day after day, and one he supposed his sister'd regret, too. "Yeah, killing it's probably best," Ruler agreed. The exp and col really were too good to simply pass up. Even if it was a single monster. He supposed running every time would add up. "Well, if you're game for some combat, you or I can give it a light tap, draw the aggro, and then we alternate sword arts until it's dead?" Thus far, the complexity of combat seemed simple enough. Attack, switch, attack. Someone in town'd talked about pots and stuff, but so far Ruler hadn't used any. Probably, when they ventured into the labyrinth where everything was supposed to be stronger, he'd have to. He studied the lady's name while he waited for a response. Would calling her Kana be rude...?
