eviathan needed a weapon. Frankly, what he really really wanted was a polearm, but he needed to work up to getting that weapon by increasing his level and gaining stat points. That would take a while, and he didn't want to go into battle with a crappy rusty sword. Ruler's inbetween-quests break time was occupied largely with
sitting around the Town of Beginnings' marketplace, trying to find new customers for his crafting services.
Farmsalot had come up with a good scheme to still help people, and while Ruler had gotten the hang of combat, he still wanted to pursue crafting as well.
Treading two jobs was delicate, but the boy felt like'd gotten the hang of it. He leaned back in the small chair he'd bought and took a sip of the tea he'd purchased.
It didn't take long for a customer to approach. Red hair, one eye... a telltale gait. He'd seen this person before, the one with the difficult name.
"'course I make weapons," the boy replied with a grin. "Wouldn't be sitting here if I weren't! But uh, broadsword, huh." Ruler brought up the menu and peered at it.
"I can craft you... an E-Rank broadsword, if you'd like. That'd be..." he paused to calculate, ".... 50 col. 50 col covers the mats, and labour's free. Well, for now, at least... but nevermind."
The boy thought again. His new weapon, the Beginner Sword, was pretty good... the Novice Sword he'd made before was only slightly worse.
He considered offering it, but then decided against. There was something fun about crafting it himself.
"So, 50 col and we have a deal? Anything more specific than just 'broadsword'? Um, I mean... just that's fine, but if you want, I can add some frills." |

When he'd offered to add some frills, Ruler hadn't expected the guy
to actually request additional frills. That was a little beyond his expertise, but... a dao? He had some idea of what those looked like. The red tassel he had already intended to add to his swords, as a sort of trademark.
"I can do a dao, maybe. Haven't tried before, so we'll have to see how that goes." Considering the guy hadn't offered any materials for the craft, Ruler figured he'd have to use his own. He kept a small stock of ores for precisely such situations.
The boy reached to his furnace, picking up a small bag beside it. He unceremoniously tossed the bag into the furnace, firing it up immediately. Then, he grabbed one of the standard ingots, placed it on the furnace and equipped his hammer.
He tapped his shoulder twice with the hammer. "Just a sec, then. It'll be done in a jiffy, mister Riibi*."
The boy crouched down by the furnace, and purposefully began beating away at the materials on top of it.
With each clank! of his hammer, the material started forming a weapon more and more. It took Ruler a total of twenty strikes to turn materials to sword: the weapon still looked a bit awkward, testament to the materials used and Ruler's skill.
Nonetheless, he proudly presented it to his customer.
"Beginner's Dao. Plus fourteen to your damage. You won't find any NPC selling you this!" He held up his other hand. "50 col. Trade window. Then it's yours."
Otherwise, he'd have to keep it. |

eviathan had been half-expecting his order to be too fanciful, and was delighted when the younger male finally agreed to try. "Thanks, mate!" he exclaimed happily. Checking his pockets, he sighed at his own incompetence. "Sorry, I didn't get any materials for ya. Next time, maybe."[break][break] He waited patiently as the younger male quickly made work of the ingot on the forge, hammering it until it began to take the shape of the Dao that he'd wished for. He was amazed at the young man's skill - would that ever transfer to the outside world, if they escaped?[break][break] The Beginner's Dao looked amazing, and Levi quickly fished out his wallet and trade window so as to exchange col for the weapon. Ruler's grin never left his face. It widened even when he saw the money come in, and the sword changed ownership. Considering he'd thrown in labour for free, he was still running a deficit when it came to the costs to get his crafting up, but it was a small price to pay.
The boy resolved to raise his prices after this.
"By the way, mister Riibi... um, I hope you won't use that for the labyrinth just yet..." He smiled a bit sheepishly. "I mean, I heard it was opening up, and maybe... you were thinking of goin' there, but don't. You'd need a full set of armour, too."
Off-hand, he knew Farmsalot was into crafting armour. He wondered if his friend had worked himself up to D-Rank as well. If so, he definitely needed to buy some gear.
It was a little troubling that he didn't know any tailors, though.
Ruler decided he'd find one, and started clearing out his shop. Because it was a game, the entire process took less than a minute. Shoving everything into one's inventory was incredibly useful.
