Pax had his eyes closed in irritation as he listened to the NPC speak. He wasn't irritated because of her, per se, but rather because he had done every quest on this floor. He had made it his goal as soon as Kayaba opened those gates into this being a death game; he was going to do every single quest and level up faster than anyone else. And he'd done every quest on this floor. And then the holiday had come around and given the floor new quests. That meant that when the players got to higher floors, he would have to come back down repeatedly to do all of the quests. So, he was irritated.
He nodded as the NPC finished speaking and walked a bit to the right to sit down on a bench that was conveniently placed next to the quest giver. He sat down on the metal bench with a great clang, the iron of his armor clashing against that of the seat. With an exasperated sigh, he opened up his menu and sent out a quest beacon, hoping he didn't have to wait too long before someone showed up.
Looking off into the forest that was right next to this little town, he silently wondered where his sister had gone. He hadn't seen her in a good long while now. He hoped she hadn't gotten herself killed. @open Quest

| TAKE ME TO VALHALLA WHERE MY BROTHERS WAIT FOR ME | |
Suzume never thought she'd think this after discovering she's trapped in a death game but she's... bored. You'd think that with death lurking at every corner outside the safe zones, she'd be anything but complaining about having nothing to do, but mind-numbing terror gets kind of old after several weeks, she's discovered. Though the town of beginnings had been filled with places to explore, there's a magnetising lure to the more dangerous zones that tempts her with a stronger draw with each passing day. Like a moth drawn to a flame, Suzume finds herself wandering closer and closer to the edges of town, fingers clasped around the sword that she itches to use, eyes fixated on the sea of grass that she can see in the distance. She's never given in to the urge yet, never allowed herself to step outside the safety of the non-death enabled zone, but it's only a matter of time. Fittingly, the day she musters the courage to step out into the vast fields of wildlands is the day Paxilon coincidentally chooses to send out a quest beacon mere meters away from where Suzume is. She's startled at first, flinching back from the light as her heart begins to race within the confines of her chest, but her accursed curiosity awakens with a vengeance as she recognises the quest beacon for what it is. She shouldn't. She really shouldn't. Suzume has no practice, no attack power, no defence - she could die if she chose to indulge her traitorous heart - but a part of her, the part that craves to run and dance and explore now that her parents can no longer control her every move, whispers 'would it really be that bad?'Before she consciously realises what she's doing, Suzume's feet carry her forth towards the beacon. There's a man waiting at the bench, dark hair neatly tied and looking professional in his armour and gear. Already, her mouth is dry and her pulse flutters with the transient speed of a hummingbird's wings. Suzume is intimidated. But it's too late the turn back. The man has undoubtedly seen her. She wonders if he'll be nice or cruel. "...hello," she mumbles after a long pause. ▲ WORDS: 369 ● PAXILON ● NOTES: I'm sorry, this isn't the best reply, but I hope you don't mind too much

Pax had pulled out a small rock he'd found earlier. Smooth and elongated, it was about the size of an American Half Dollar. He rubbed it between his finger and thumb and closed his eyes with a sigh. In the past day and a half he'd had to deal with no less than four players that'd been ill-equipped for the quests they'd been given. He opened his eyes and held back the groan that was rising up in him. Make that no less than five.
"Oh. Hello," Pax replied shortly. He put away his rock and reached up to take his helmet off, revealing the face of a man who'd been power leveling and questing for the entire month they'd been in the game so far. His smile was crooked, but genuine, as though he could barely afford the energy to move his lips.
"Forgive me for this, but I'm going to be completely honest with you," he gave a yawn before continuing, "You have no gear, and I am almost entirely certain you haven't even fought an enemy yet. You are no where near prepared to fight nepents, girl. Certainly, I could probably fight all of them off myself, but I don't want you getting into things you're not prepared for. This is, after all, life and death now."
After he finished speaking, Pax reached up and rubbed his eyes. He was sure it was all his imagination, but they felt dry. He stifled a yawn and wondered if maybe he should let this girl help him anyway. Once his adrenaline got pumping, he'd be fully awake again. Nepents were certainly of no problem to him. He decided that he would help her as long as she was aware of the danger. He failed to suppress the yawn and put his helmet back on before he let it out. OOKAMI (OOC: Your post is fine! I'm the one who should apologise for being late to reply.)
