[nospaces] [break] sweet dreams are made of you Okay it could be worse, she thinks. [break][break] It was further on in her glorious first day. Now, she was just trying to figure some of the basic functions of the game out. And probably how to not be in these rags anymore. Which probably requires work, and that means a quest. Although she knows where to go now, she still can't be bothered. Surfing the town is what she's doing, trying to find some potential here in the beta testers. Someone that can match her groove and not make her ashamed to be around them. Look, it's not like she doesn't appreciate nice people, but she has a standard of cool and amazing to keep, and so she had to find the right people for that. [break][break] That meant stalking the city until someone caught her attention she supposed. [break][break] Which was just not happening. The girl ran her hand through her blonde strands, and let out a very noisy, very annoyed sigh. ''What da fuck are ya supposed to do to find the cool kids 'round here!'' she ends up saying rather loudly. Honestly, it's annoying. She figured there would be more testers, considering how big this game was supposed to be on launch - it was being released hella big, hella hyped, she knows even foreigners fought to get into this beta, even though it's not their fucking country - but she can't find them for the life of her. Probably because of the unconventional status and tagging system? Usually you'd just hit tab, and bam, you lock on to the nearest mob, or if you had a lot of buttons on your mouse, button 4 cycled through teammates. [break][break] But there no buttons, no command hotkeys with NerveGear. And so, she was stuck trying to manually figure shit out, and that was the point she decided to kick a stone on the road. Sending it sailing right into some poor bastard's head - no damage, obviously, but probably irritating. Oups. She did hope that wasn't a player she just knocked...

"... So does this work like a suped-up Garmin, or something?"
Ever since he had logged in, Sang had been getting himself accustomed to how things in this reality worked. At the moment, he was occupying himself with the navigational capabilities of his display - he was trying to fiddle with the settings and see if he could change the colour to something more his shade, but after a solid five minutes of guesswork and swiping this way and that, he'd settled on leaving things as they were, and instead he changed gears. Now, he was walking along one of the alleys of the town, looking for something to eat.
That was something he was getting used to, too! The actual need for food here was both a pro and a con - it made it so much more real, so encompassing... But it also meant he had to find a way to get hold of some actual food, else he might starve. Setting on this course of action, he found himself walking around while absentmindedly looking down at his display readings, and talking to himself when he thought nobody was around. "Might explain why I can't find anything on this damn thi-" He was cut off from his wandering by the onset of another very real, very sudden sensation: Pain.
The dark-haired man stumbled and bit back a short choke of surprised anguish as something collided with the back of his head, jarring his thinking-bits for a second. "... Agh." Keeping his composure as best as he can, he re-oriented himself, angrily flicking the display away with a hand as he turned around, eyes ready to lock on to the culprit and attempt to hasten their death via intense glaring. "Alright. Who's the bastard throwin' rocks around here-" His mis-matched pair of eyes fell on the only other person in the alleyway. He definitely wasn't expecting to meet somebody like her back here - pale hair, pale skin, and the way those leather beginner clothes framed the rest of her, the sight made him pause in the middle of his sentence... Kind of like the rock had a second ago.
He blinked, catching himself before he stared any longer. "... Do you make a habit out of meeting people by giving them concussions, fastball?"

[nospaces] [break] sweet dreams are made of you Eh, hope was for suckers. [break][break] Turns out it was a player, and she just gave a sheepish smile. ''Yo, sorry 'bout that. It got away from me, didn't mean to hit tch'ya. Got pretty frustrated with the shitty targetting, kicked a rock. Ya know the rest.'' she said, shrugging. The blonde decided to just walk up to the guy, considering she was pretty far right now. When she was within respectable distance, she relaxed her stance, tilting her head slightly. ''How 'bout you, what are ya doin' in a dark gloomy alleyway like this? Ya don't look like a player killer, and ya don't give me the vibe of a thief either.'' she said. She was kind of curious, because hey, anything to distract her from the hell that is trying to figure out the controls. [break][break] And she was doing her best to not stare at his eyes because that mismatch was pretty cool looking. [break][break] Mainly, she was going to play it cool, because the guy probably gets too much attention from it anyways. Well, if it was a real life trait he kept. She knew some people spent hours fucking around, and looking totally different. She wasn't one of those, just changed one or two things, to keep it on the downlow. To look slightly more badass, and not a murderous barbie. She did give the guy a look over to make sure he wasn't going to shank her, and the woman found that he wasn't too shabby, not too shabby at all. Now if he was cool ontop of that, she was sold. [break][break] So that meant she was going to have to test him on that, wasn't she? [break][break] sang[googlefont="Muli|Pavanam"]

Sang reached up to rub at the back of his head, managing to only wince just a tiny little bit at the sore spot developing there. He was about to answer her question when started thinking it over: Either he could humiliate himself by admitting he was hopelessly lost like the bass-ackwards newbie that he was... Or, he could play it off and try saving some face.
"... Me?" He jerked a thumb towards himself, giving the blond a cocky grin in his best effort to bluff. "I came back here seekin' adventure, is all! Like y'said, I'm no filthy player-killer," he waves a hand, dismissively shaking his head, "but I hear they skulk out places like this sometimes. So, I thought I'd come back here and see what sort of trash I could clean up tonight." He lets his hand go back to hanging at his belt, leaning back on the heels of his boots to make himself look just that little bit taller. He looked down at her - she didn't seem to be a whole lot shorter than him, so he didn't have to crane his neck much - and canted his head, raising one dark eyebrow inquisitively. "I'd ask what you're doin' back here, but I think you already gave me your answer." He laughs, tapping his head. "Target practice, right? Good way to get a handle on the controls here, I'd say."
He threw a quick glance her way while they chatted, figuring she probably wouldn't notice. She seemed to be avoiding looking him straight in the eye for the moment, anyway - and something about her just kept drawing him to look. Well, a couple of things, he reasoned - but even aside from the looks and the nonchalant air she had going on about her, and putting aside the whole rock-to-the-head accident, she seemed like a pretty neat person. If she was new, like he was, then they could start plying this system together - and if she was some kine of vet, then she might be able to help him speed through the learning process. Win-win!
"... So, you new to the scene? Or are you just hung up on the controls, miss?..." He eyed her as he inclined his head forward and put just a little drop of intrigued interest into his words. If he wanted to get to know her more, he ought to at least start with a name!

[nospaces] [break] sweet dreams are made of you Part of her thinks he's bluffing. [break][break] But whatever. This is just a game - she doesn't need to be serious about it. She can be the hot blooded front-liner she was born to be, no more, no less. She smirks, and shakes her head. ''Really? I ain't the heartless type to use other people as target practice ya know. Ain't my cup of tea you see?'' she says. ''Of course, there's already player killers which is pretty sad I think. And you're hunting them? Let me know if ya find some, I have no qualms beating them up for being absolute trash.'' she adds on. And she's serious - for a moment, her expression turns dark, remembering other games she played before. And she hates that kind of people. [break][break] And the world was full of them. [break][break] But the expression was gone as suddenly as it appeared, leaving her clear looking again. ''Yo, yo, did you not do the tutorial?'' she asks, her face now looking very amused. ''You know, I'd believe ya if you said that. Naw, I'm relatively new, beta's like really new you know? I figured out some shit on my own, because fuck tutorials, but I figured everyone else woulda done 'em? Whatever I'm rambling, I'm probably wrong anyways. Name's Canary mister police-eye. I probably know more then you do, but I ain't no pro. I just played mmo's before that's all.'' she says. Shrugging, she gives him an easy-going grin. ''So, sounds like you had something in mind. What was it?'' she asks. [break][break] She's definitely interested in hearing the answer to that gem of a question. [break][break] sang[googlefont="Muli|Pavanam"]

Sang's attempt at a charming grin falters a little when she gets that dark and serious look on her face for a moment. Player Killers seemed to be a sore spot for her - should he broach the subject, try to talk with her about it? His natural reflex was to try and help... But he didn't want to pry. Hm.
Before he can really move forward on the decision, she's back at him with a smug-esque look on her face, and talking about something. He had to admit, even if he felt a bit irk'd that she was giving him that look, he also liked being able to get her to smile... Did she say something about a tutorial? "... Er." He bluntly exclaims, with all the mastery of the English language he can muster on an empty stomach and a bruised skull, "There was a tutorial for this?... Pfft," he shakes his head, putting on that arrogant demeanor again and waving a hand, "'Course I didn't take it. I don't have the time to sit through all the hand-holding and coddling - I jumped in to get a bearing on things myself, the old-fashioned way!" Of course, the really real reason was that he completely missed the tutorial prompt at all... But how much did he miss by not taking it, really?
Turning his head to look around, Sang noted how devoid of PKers or thieves this alley was at this hour. "Canary? Never would've thought - hell of a lot better than your typical "Raven" or "Sparrow" though, so props," he turns back to look at her and give a little thumbs-up of approval. Cute bird = cute name. "I'm Sang. And trust me, I'm no cop. Too..." He would have said lazy, but that didn't have the ring to it that he was aiming for right now. "... Freelance. Yeah." Obviously, 'Freelance' implied much better things... He thought, anyway. Speaking of thoughts, he did have a thought on his mind that he wanted to get out there. Now it was his turn to look a little sheepish, one of his hands rubbing at the back of his neck as he tried to seem all nonchalant. "I was just thinkin' - you might not be a pro, but you've got a good head on your shoulders. And you aren't a dick," he smiles, shrugging a shoulder, "maybe you wanna hit up a quest together? Do some speed-leveling so we can skip past the small stuff? And if we happen to find any trash along the way, all the more cathartic practice."

[nospaces] [break] sweet dreams are made of you Ah, seems like she was right. [break][break] To some extent at least. The blonde didn't lose her smile though, even if she raised an eyebrow. ''Yeah, okay.'' she said. She wasn't convinced, but it didn't look like he was trying to lie to her because he was being nefarious - probably more of a 'oh shit, she's hot, gotta look damn cool' kind of thing. She wasn't going to push him just yet, let him dig his hole deep enough that the blonde would have to pull this guy out. She wasn't necessarily a nice person per say - she didn't want to take advantage of others - but she still got a kick out of watching a guy fumble around like an idiot to impress her. [break][break] It was pretty funny when they realized she could probably break them in half no sweat. [break][break] ''Thanks. I had a good inspiration for it too - and yours isn't too bad I guess. Sang... that's another language right?'' she said. It sounded foreign, even on her tongue. Again, she'd let him skate by with his clear as day white lie. But hearing the next step of his so called proposal, she laughed a bit. ''Ha, not like I can't be. I just don't feel like needlessly being one ya know? This is a game, we're supposed to be havin' fun, not dick measuring contests.'' she said. But her stance changed, shifting her weight from the right to the left. It would be most notable because the sword hilt was on her right. So now it was in prime ranged to be taken out of it's sheath. [break][break] ''But I like what you're peddlin' there. Sure I love takin' my time, but that's for alts. Wanna get to the frontlines and wreck some house right? I can respect that. And trash needs to be taken out when we see it after all.'' she said. ''So, buddy, what's your first idea then? I ain't picky, and I got free time, so let's get this show on the road ya?'' she added, approaching him. And she stuck out her hand, because might as well go with it. Americans did this kind of thing all the time right? She saw it online, and with what her boys would bring her. [break][break] Now, if only if she could remember if they spit in their hands or not. [break][break] sang[googlefont="Muli|Pavanam"]
