[attr="class","strawberry"] [attr="class","coconut"]COUNTING PIGS The quest board had many more greyed out areas than it had before and Areto laughed sheepishly. He must've been doing too much adventuring for the past three days. Beta hadn't even been open for that long, and he was already down and out. The blond lowered his head and sighed softly. There had to be something that he could do or at least take part in. Or maybe there were other players who didn't embark on some of the missions yet and he'd be able to help them. Glancing around, he noticed a few people were looking at the quest board as well and tried to pick out a person to ask. This was a delicate procedure. If he didn't ask the right person then it was possible that he'd have to wait even longer. Areto hummed softly and wondered whether or not he'd have to take a break from the game. He was already level 10, and there was a chance that he wouldn't be able to do a large majority of the quests without someone who hadn't done them. Most of the quests so far were "milk runs", a term that he got from his encounter with Sonic, and others were actually similar to a "search and seizure". Glancing towards the quest board, he noticed one quest that wasn't greyed out and looked towards it. What was that? Something dealing with pigs? kenseiryuu [newclass=.strawberry] background-color:#fff;box-shadow: 2px 2px 3px #c0c0c0;height:auto;margin:auto;width: 350px;padding:24px;font-size:11px;[/newclass] [newclass=.coconut] padding:10px;text-align:center;font-family:VT323;font-size:30px;text-transform:uppercase;[/newclass]

Okay. Another day, another quest. This was easy, but since she had been invited to the beta, she'd taken her time providing feedback as well. Of course perhaps she was taking it too seriously. She was probably annoying the developers with her stream of feedback, but nobody would criticize her for not being diligent, no sir! Of course that meant she'd probably spent about as much time writing feedback as she had actually playing. Nobody ever did say she was excellent or fast at writing and if anybody pointed out the effort she'd be dreadfully embarrassed. So it was a good thing nobody knew, nor could they. Of course it looked like the quest board was being slowly emptied. Was there only a limited number of quests? Hmm that was troubling. She'd leave some feedback about that, that seemed like it might be rough on new players who didn't know the ins and outs of the quest system. Listen to her, sounding like she wasn't one of said new players herself. Maybe some of Canary had rubbed off on her. Seeing the blonde standing by the board and eyeing a quest, she reached up to tap it. "Do you need a party member, mister?" She looked a little more closely at the quest. Just a simple quest to kill 5 enemies. Or 'mobs' she supposed. That sounded easy enough. "Go ahead and invite me and we can start the quest right away. I'm Kenseiryuu." She stuck her hand out. Like hell was she about to struggle in the interface finding party invite controls in front of another person, but they didn't need to know that. Not at all. ARETO

[attr="class","strawberry"] [attr="class","coconut"]COUNTING PIGS While he gave the details another look over, another person made their way towards him. Areto glanced at the person from the corner of his eye before turning to give them his full attention. It was a long time since he was regarded as a "mister". Most persons already knowing his name or referring to him by a nickname of their choosing tended to forgo the formalities. He had to admit that it was a nice change of pace but wasn't entirely warranted. Especially inside of a video game. Oh, but she was speaking to him. " Oh," he said. " Well, it's nice to meet you Kenseiryuu, I'm Areto." Vaguely, he wondered how long she had been in the beta. Probably long enough to learn how to use the user interface. Maybe she was even a higher level than him which would've made the quest that much easier to handle. He opened up his menu and circled around to the «FRIENDS/GUILD» tab, creating a party and sending an invite to her. «ARETO» would like to invite you to a party.

She nodded in the affirmative, trying to not seem like she was trying to glean the information from his movements. Aha, so she had to go into that tab. and then scroll down... She quickly looked away though. Was this... like reading over someone's shoulder? Well he was standing in front of her, so... not really? Regardless it seemed rude so she stopped, but she had a better idea of what she was doing. Accepting the party invite readily, her low level would be plain but... wow this guy was really high level. 12? That was over 10 level above her, what the heck? She felt a bit embarrassed at that, but... wasn't this a low-level quest? What was a higher level player like that doing on something like this? Hitomi opened and closed her mouth a couple of times trying to come out with something and settled with a "Yeah, I'm still learning the ropes, so I thought a quest like this would be a good way to get levels. That's... that's not the wrong idea is it? I'm not too familiar with the best ways to level in this game yet." ARETO

[attr="class","strawberry"] [attr="class","coconut"]COUNTING PIGS The moment that her mouth went agape, Areto felt as though his blood had run cold. He wished that she hadn't noticed that. Whenever he embarked on a new mission with someone, it came down to the same thing. They saw his level. They gaped at him. They tried to either run or hide because of it and it was absolutely and utterly exhausting. Well, not exhausting. Seeing someone who was so overpowered in only a matter of days must have been awe-inspiring but also rather daunting. Areto smiled nonetheless and crossed his arms behind his head with a warm smile. " Quests are an easy way to level up but there is also fighting monsters," he said. " Maybe while we're on our way, we can talk about it." He accepted the quest details and hummed while making his way away from the quest board. kenseiryuu [newclass=.strawberry] background-color:#fff;box-shadow: 2px 2px 3px #c0c0c0;height:auto;margin:auto;width: 350px;padding:24px;font-size:11px;[/newclass] [newclass=.coconut] padding:10px;text-align:center;font-family:VT323;font-size:30px;text-transform:uppercase;[/newclass]

Well, level aside, he didn't seem like a bad person. Maybe he was just a big fan of the game? Maybe he was trying to level as quickly as possible. This was a beta after all, didn't people try to do things like that? Didn't they try to do those same sort of things normally as well? Normal mmo behavior. If anything, she felt a little more embarrassed that her reaction was that much of a surprise. It was only about 10 levels or so, what was this fuss she was making? See? He was smiling, Areto didn't care. Or so she thought, after all it wasn't like she was a mind-reader either. She nodded and listened to him. "I know the basics of how to fight, I learned from another player called Canary, but that wasn't much, just a few mobs that would pop up on the path for the quest." She scratched her cheek awkwardly. "It wasn't as hard as I thought, but does just doing that over and over get you that much experience?" ARETO

[attr="class","strawberry"] [attr="class","coconut"]COUNTING PIGS Areto touched his chin with a curious expression. She met Canary? Well, that was interesting and rather heartwarming. Canary was very kind to him when the pair first met. Although, she also threatened to carry him if he wasn't going to walk properly to wherever their destination was going to be that day. It was a fond memory that he kept in the back of his mind but not one that he wanted to recall very often. Their quest along with their interactions were some things that he'd recall for some days to come. " I'm sure that she was kind to you," he said. " She really is a nice person." Knowing that she had the ability to fight or at least knew the basics was comforting. That way, he didn't have to bore her with too many of the details or at least try to direct her to the manual when he didn't know the answer. Being a high level sadly didn't make him all-knowing and all-powerful. Though, it seemed as though some persons thought that it did. " Mm, well," he said with a hum. " It gives you experience in fighting so that when you're engaged with higher-leveled enemeis, you know what to do. But in terms of leveling experience, so so. It depends." He smiled warmly in her direction. " But don't worry. You'll be alright, I'll allow them to attack me while we run over a few of the intermediate lessons. If that's okay?" kenseiryuu [newclass=.strawberry] background-color:#fff;box-shadow: 2px 2px 3px #c0c0c0;height:auto;margin:auto;width: 350px;padding:24px;font-size:11px;[/newclass] [newclass=.coconut] padding:10px;text-align:center;font-family:VT323;font-size:30px;text-transform:uppercase;[/newclass]

More things to learn? At this point, Hitomi was feeling like she'd only ever be a neophyte at this game, but she really did want to learn. She had at least some of the judgement-making reflexes that were built outside of the game, but that and stylistic choices seemed to have been the only thing truly the same. She could only imagine the hissy fit her father would throw about how "unrealistic" it was and then probably spend four hours doing drills to "clean himself." Her dad always took kenjutsu seriously, sometimes too seriously she thought... but it had rubbed off on her a bit as well. The difference was is that she was younger and could appreciate the game a little bit more as a game and not as an accurate representation of swordfighting. Ultimately it was what it was, no ifs ands or buts about it. "It depends... so some at the same level are worth more experience?" If she'd had a pen and paper she would have been scribbling as they walked, but she didn't, so instead she simply adopted her habitual thinking pose. "Sure thing, there's plenty of stuff I'm sure I've only touched the surface of here. I mean, I hardly know what any of the skills do yet..." ARETO

[attr="class","strawberry"] [attr="class","coconut"]COUNTING PIGS Although he may have seemed rather content and excited on the outside, Areto was floundering on the inside. He wasn't sure what to do. Being a teacher and educating those who were just starting beta wasn't exactly one of the things that he envisioned happening. However, he also didn't account for being one of the higher-leveled characters in the game let alone a front liner. The blond could have let out an audible sigh but instead gave a little shrug of his shoulders and a soft smile. Most of the mechanics in the game were very moderate in their wording and for some people it may take a bit more thought. Himself included. Areto may have gotten far but he wasn't without his faults. " Well," he said. " The missions are ranked in classes. Lower class missions give minimal rewards and higher-classed missions give much better ones. However, the difficulty is what you have to look out for." He remembered trying to take on a few E-class missions although he should've been running the F-class ones. However, his excitement got the best of him. And he got his ass handed to him more than once by nepents and other monsters until he learned how to take control of the situation. Areto crossed his arms over his chest and glanced at the mission that they were to be running together. The details seemed straight forward. " How about this, I'll show you some of the skills that I have already, and I'll explain to you what they do." Areto grinned. " That way, you're getting a crash course and experience." kenseiryuu [newclass=.strawberry] background-color:#fff;box-shadow: 2px 2px 3px #c0c0c0;height:auto;margin:auto;width: 350px;padding:24px;font-size:11px;[/newclass] [newclass=.coconut] padding:10px;text-align:center;font-family:VT323;font-size:30px;text-transform:uppercase;[/newclass]
