Eve Rhodes blinked, eyes squinting at the sudden whirl of colors. Her body swayed slightly as she tried to get her bearings. One second she was laying down on her bed, and in the next moment she was upright in the middle of a brick town. Taking a deep breath of air, the woman was surprised at the sensation of something cool and light travelling through her nasal and throughout her lungs.
So, this was what a virtual reality game really was.
Everything was real - to an extent. Her hair, which was now cropped short, felt soft and light, and her coiled muscles seemed steady. She flexed her arms and hands, took experimental steps forward, and did a few hops. If anyone was watching or remotely paying attention, they probably would have thought of her actions as odd. Or perhaps mirrored her actions.
Either way, the young woman was too enraptured with her new body to notice her surroundings.
"This is..." She was murmuring to herself, standing by column with a statue carved into it. Conveniently, there was a barrel of water positioned right next to it. "... interesting."
Her face was - dare she say it - handsome. No facial hair. Deep blue-green eyes like the ocean. A prominent jawline with complementing cheekbones. Curious hands patted along her new face and, embarrassingly enough, chest and abdominal area.
Wait. Was that a six pack?

People were spawning in left and right. It was a spectacle to behold considering how this game was in beta and the people showing up were selected to participate in this exclusive event. For someone like Jeong Ho, though, he had been in the game for about an hour trying to run around and see all the things and do all the things. However, his little journey out into the world of Aincrad came with its consequences. Drenched in virtual sweat now, the man was now headfirst in the famous fountain in the Town of Beginnings.
"Blurbblurblurblurb." He exhaled large pockets of carbon dioxide into the fountain, his face submerged in the ice cold water.
It felt like a good minute or so before he drew his head from beneath the surface, whipping his hair back, and splashing anyone nearby with a good amount of water. His sleek hair snared out like the snakes on Medusa's head, throwing drops of water on passersby.
Unfortunately for those in the "splash zone", they received a healthy dose of H2O, compliments of one king.

Pulling away from her rippling reflection, Eve turned to spot a beautiful fountain that seemed to be the center of the entire place. It was tall, way taller than most water structures of its kind, and pristine. Bright sunlight beamed through its translucent body, giving off a small array of colors if people were paying attention.
Entranced by the sheer elegance the woman began to walk along its perimeter. The pads of her fingertips trailing along the fountain's off-white surface. That is until she found herself being splattered with rogue water. It wasn't a lot. Just a wave of drops, really.
Eve could only pause in her short walk and close her eyes until the assault was done. "Was that necessary?" She was peaking through with an eye while wiping her face with a sleeve of her thin shirt. Then she paused at the deepness of her voice. It had been and sounded different from when she was murmuring to herself just a few moments prior.
A small amount of annoyance, of course, threaded through those words. Though Eve was mostly indifferent to her little mishap, she wanted to say something more just to hear her new voice.

Pulling the bottom cuff of his shirt up to his face, the man began to pat down what water was left on his face. As he was doing so, there was a voice of annoyance that questioned his antics, leading his slow pat down to come to a halt.
Letting the now soaked bottom half of his shirt fall back down to his waist, King looked over to the source of this voice. Of course, he was tall for Asian standards, but now he was in the presence of someone even taller than him. By what seemed like one lonely inch, this man's presence felt like it towered over him. It was much deeper than most men's, almost as if it were trying to compensate for something, but this man was extraordinary masculine.
"Uwoooooh." He exclaimed as he shook his head, that nervous smile on his face reappearing. "I'm so sorry!" In a hurried mess, he gripped the bottom of his shirt again, pulling up the fabric as if he were taking it off. No, he was taking it off, actually.
"Take my shirt to dry yourself off." But as the man's shirt reached halfway up his biceps, he pulled the cloth back down. "It doesn't look that bad. Never mind," he muttered.
The man wore a cheeky smile, eyes closed, bearing his pearly white teeth. He prayed and hoped the behemoth wouldn't beat him into a bloody pulp.
"So are you new too?"

The man's face flickered through a couple of emotions pretty quick. Eve also found it a bit satisfying to be standing around the same height as the other player. She had known that her character physique was one that most men desired and what women liked to swoon over, but to see someone else reacting to her form... Excitement and a hint of smugness pooled at her stomach.
"No, it's fi - " Eve was quick to reassure the player, and, perhaps, lecture him a bit on common public manners. However, the dark haired man was fast in his actions. Her eyes caught a glimpse of bare skin and immediately she turned to another direction.
Relieved that his abrupt decision was rescinded, Eve cleared her throat and commented, "T-That was also u-unnecessary."
Once she finished counting to fifteen - sure that the guy was fully covered - Eve raised a brow. "Yes. And I'm sure that everyone else here is fairly new as well."
It was the first day of the release, after all. Unfortunately, she had had work earlier in the day and had logged in a few hours after the launch. "Did you get in right when the game was opened?" Eve was curious. Mayhaps the person before her was some school boy that left class early, or something.

Everything was necessary. From the shirt pulling, to the apologies. There was a need for all of that.
The taller lad, too, was fresh off the boat. From the equipment he had alone, the two men were equals. "Oh, yeah. I guess you're right..."
King rubbed his chin as he looked around at the assortment of newbies roaming the world of Aincrad. There was a lot of them and he was one of those newbies. Someone out there, though, was off rampaging through the valleys of the game and grinding out their levels and here he was having small talk with this random.
"I honestly don't know when the game opened. My sleep schedule is a bit loopy and the days sort of... mesh together." King intertwined his fingers into a mess in front of him. Shrugging once, the Korean man brushed off the fact that he lost track of time so easily.
"Anyway, how're you liking the game? Feels a bit funny being in a body that is yours, but isn't yours at the same time, huh?" With that question, King made this weird motion, making this wave with his arms as if he were some sort of octopus.

Eve hummed. She could understand his trouble with time. When the detective team were assigned multiple cases, she too found the days melding together. Often times the rookie didn't even know what day it was until someone mentions it was "X" or "Y" day. Thankfully, her "shift" (because detectives technically don't have solid work hours) had ended on time today.
Nodding at his words, she then replied, "Understandable. And... I think the game is pretty cool so far." Eve, however, felt her body stiffen just a tad when the guy mentioned being in a different form. Had she already been exposed? The woman shook off her suspicions. It was too early to tell and they had barely met. She was also sure that the guy in front of her was some kid in his imagined adult body.
"It is a bit weird," Eve consented, wondering if she should push her "I'm a guy" image. "But the only thing I need to get used to is the whole world, you know? Killing things to get money and then buying equipment. All the usual MMO stuff, right, uh... "
It just occurred to Eve that she didn't know his name and she had yet to introduce herself. Though if she analyzed the situation, both players didn't really have the right opportunity to exchange greetings. "Sorry. I'm Castiel, and your name is...?"

Sword Art Online was on the opposite spectrum of things in the comparison of professions. Jeong Ho was hired to save lives in order to pay his rent. As for this game, he was now a killer; someone whose only goal was to slaughter to get rich and make it to the end of the day. But that was the game and that presented him two separate mindsets to adopt.
"King." As expected of royalty, he bowed. Rendering his respect to his complete stranger was just a part of the facade that came with the name.
"So like... what kind of name is Castiel?" At this point, he was trying to find anything to make small talk out of. This was getting a little awkward: the conversation, the two people involved, and the fact that this guy gave off the feeling he had never met another person in his life.
Castiel was an interesting fellow. It would have been pretty funny to find out that in the end, King was right: Castiel was really a cave-dweller.

King, huh? Definitely something a high school student would name themselves. She was beginning to find him amusing and cute. It almost made her recall a time when she had been his age. Eve had been eager to grow up and be an adult. A successful and responsible grownup. And being that image of themselves in a game... Well, it seemed as if they were liberated.
"Couldn't wait to be 'king,' huh?" She chuckled as the tune of the Lion King song started up in her head. "And my name...?" Eve had to give pause. It would be a bit creepy if a guy told another guy that they named themselves after a good-looking angel from a TV show that sort of caters to women.
There was a small stretch of silence as the woman tried to come up with an answer. What kind of name was it? Eve didn't know. Unfortunately, as she was thinking, her blue-green eyes stared at the player indifferently. Not being able to find a decent response, she figured the truth will just have to do. "It's an angel's name."
