It was kind of odd to be back to be back out questing after what happened on the previous day. But like it or not, this was going to be his life for now. If it weren't for the constant looming threat of death he would have been fine with the routine. Get up, work hard, make progress, sleep and repeat. As long as he could keep that sort of perspective he was sure he could make this work. But he wasn't about to try and do this all on his own. Instead he was focused on helping others get themselves going.
Now that he had a decent set of armor he felt like he needed to do what he could to help others reach the same point themselves. Having good protection could easily mean life and death in this world. As much as he would like to provide everything himself, it simply wasn't possible. There was no way he could afford the supplies needed to supply everyone he met. Not to mention the time he would have to dedicate to actually crafting so much gear.
As all of this went through his head he stood quietly next to a young girl, the NPC who had just given him a quest to seek out kites for her younger brother. Even if he harbored resentment toward the game itself, he still had trouble feeling that way toward the NPCs. They were just too...realistic.
As he waited, many players came and went in their groups, accepting the quest and going off to seek out the kites and make their money. Each time one of them would invite him he had to politely decline, as difficult as that was for him to do. While they could use his help, they at least already had eachother. He was seeking out those who had no choice but to quest alone. Those were the people that were going to need him the most. He knew he wouldn't have even made it as far as he had now if it weren't for all those who had helped him before the announcement. Ruler, Diz, Prince, Comic...Hopefully they were all still ok.

❝ don't ask me to fix you. I'm just a band aid for your heart. ' click, click' Since this was a virtual reality game, Liatris' annoying nervous habit was visible as she approached the little girl asking for a quest. It was apparently insanely easy so she decided she didn't NEED her normal entourage. She'd do this all alone. As she looked at the little girl. Once again she clicked her tongue against the side of her mouth. ' click, click' Liatris had to be honest with herself. She HAD to, she played games so that she wasn't lonely. What was so hard about this is.. games became her new reality. She didn't know how to adjust to it. So, when she saw a boy seeming to wait for someone to do the quest with her gamer instincts kicked in. But her soft social anxiety in real life was also there. When everyone ditched her, it was hard for her. But, she pushed though and walked over. Liatris looked nervously, trying to get her cute on in hopes that maybe that will help. " H-Hey. I'm wanting to do this quest but all my friends ditched me. Would you be willing to do it with me?" Her arms were clasped in front of her, pushing up her breasts a little and she was giving the man puppy dog eyes. He seemed to be the kind that was more for the adorable type. Though, since no one made their avatars anymore personality was hard to tell as easy. But, maybe she could still get this flirting thing down. ✎ tags -- ( Farmsalot ) ※ notes: I hope this works for you? [googlefont=Open+Sans]

Just where was that clicking coming from? He looked somewhat puzzled as he looked around for the source of the unfamiliar sound, this whole 'death game' still having him on edge. They weren't going to try underhanded tactics like attacking players in a supposedly safe area, were they? To his relief he was soon able to identify the sound, eyes settling on the woman approaching the NPC for the quest. He looked around for a moment, trying to see if he could spot anyone that could have been in her party.
Before he came to a conclusion he heard a voice in front of him, causing his eyes to immediately turn to see it's source. Apparently the woman had approached while he was distracted, catching him off guard. "Huh?" It was hard to ignore her...posture as she spoke. He suddenly appeared startled upon that realization, eyes jumping to lock on to hers. "Oh! Uh, sorry. Yes, of course." He could only hope she wasn't offended by his brief moment indecency.
Fingers moved quickly to open up the menu, a combination of discomfort and unfamiliarity making it a bit of a struggle to send the invite. "I think it's...no not there. Here?" After a moment of floundering the invitation was sent finally sent, uneasy gaze moving to meet hers once more "There we go." He gave the woman a nervous smile, face still looking a bit red from his earlier mistake."I'm uh, sorry to hear your friends left you like that." Were people already abandoning their friends to pursue their own goals? It was hard for Farms to imagine people behaving that way in a time of desperation like this. "So... Are you ready to get started?"

❝ don't ask me to fix you. I'm just a band aid for your heart. Oh man, this guy was easy. He already was staring where he shouldn't be. Of course, Liatris liked that he was looking at her. She was still pretty in real life, despite being uncomfortable around people. She just didn't understand how normal people worked, or how to keep friendships. Online was just.. easier. Watching him nervously go through the menu made Liatris giggle. " You're cute~" She teased walking over as she accepted the invitation. She smiled and grabbed his arm, pushing herself against him. " That's okay, you can be my new friend cutie~" She said with a small wink at him. " They never really cared about me anyway." She sighed losing her smile for a moment, before placing it right back. " Yep, I think I'm ready! This is my first quest so be gentle with me~" She giggled, before pulling away from him, deciding to give him a small breather from her teasing. Honestly, this made her feel a lot better. That she could still be the person she liked in herself. Maybe being stuck here wouldn't be so bad. She hated reality anyway. ✎ tags -- ( Farmsalot ) ※ notes: She's a little bold haha. [googlefont=Open+Sans]

Right when he thought he was starting to recover from his moment of shame, he found himself on the receiving end of her teasing. How was he supposed to respond to this? They were just harmless compliments, right? So... "U-uh. Thanks. You're cute too." His stomach turned in a knot the moment those words left his mouth, instantly being filled with regret. He couldn't go calling a woman he barely knew cute, no matter how familiar she may be acting. Not that he could retract the compliment, which would only complicate matters further.
Her physical advancements were more than he could take at this point, lips pressed into a flat line as his eyes stared straight ahead. He just couldn't look at her, that's all. As long as he didn't look at her nothing could go wrong. Though that plan almost immediately went out the window, the idea of having so called friends reveal they never really cared about you being too much for him. How could any human being act that way at a time like this? Farms turned to look at her, making sure to maintain eye contact to avoid his previous pit falls. "Of course I'll be your friend. I'm just sorry that happened to you."
As soon as she released her grip on his arm his entire body visibly relaxed, mouth opening to let out a breath of air. Thank goodness that part was over. Maybe the distraction of the quest would be enough to make this less uncomfortable. "Your first quest? Don't worry, this one should be pretty easy." At last, back to business as usual. While he had never done this quest before he had been watching the other players complete it without too much issue. "The first one's in this tree over here." He gestured forward before taking the lead toward their first objective. "One of us is going to have to do a bit of climbing to get it, but this is a good climbing tree so it should be simple."

❝ don't ask me to fix you. I'm just a band aid for your heart. It was her instinct to reply 'I know' to him calling her cute. But instead, she replied. " Aw, thanks." Not at all offended or put off by him calling her cute, it was her goal with every conversation anyway. His sincerity almost made Liatris feel bad for her being.. herself. She looked into his eyes and the gesture was so.. so sweet. Oh man! She liked this one, that's such a shame. That typically means they wont stick around long. Liatris was already ready to put walls up around her heart so that she didn't feel bad for hurting his feelings in the future. She was glad that he confirmed that this quest would be easy enough for her. Really though, now that he was there to help her out she was fully confident she could do it. When they came up to the tree she looked at it, and the kite lost into it. When he said one of them would have to climb Liatris decided she'd take this one since it was probably the easiest. " Okay! I'll give it a shot if you boost me up!" She spoke cheerfully, and not really asking his permission, she forced herself onto his back, his shoulders, and then onto the tree, making sure he had a real nice view of her butt from up there. Afterwards, she easily climbed up the other branches. She used to play in the woods as a kid so this was nothing weird or difficult for her. Eventually, she grabbed the kite with her hands and dropped it down to Farm. She then dropped a few branches where if he fucked up she'd only take a little damage before saying. " Alright! Get ready to catch me!" and dropped from the tree, hopefully into his arms. ✎ tags -- ( Farmsalot ) ※ notes: Feel free to say you dropped her or asked her to get down, she would if asked. It may have been a relief that she didn't seem to mind his compliment too much, but he was still uncomfortable about the whole thing. He never interacted with a woman like this before, and he wasn't quite sure how to handle it. Should he play along and keep up with the compliments, or was she just being polite and letting him off the hook for his slip ups? Whatever the case he didn't want to risk hurting her feelings, especially since she had just been abandoned by her friends. He didn't want her to feel uncomfortable around him if she was going to need his help.
"Wait, what?" Her sudden insistence on climbing the tree caught him completely off guard. There he was fully expecting to be the one to do the climbing, only for her to start climbing him of all things. He squatted down and bent over a bit to make himself easier to scale, not sure what else he could do to simplify things for her. "Are you alright up there?" He looked up at her with a look of disbelief as she made her way up to the kite. Even more surprising was that she seemed like she actually knew what she was doing up there.
He caught the kite out of the air, only for it to vanish into his inventory and the quest tracker to tick off their first objective. "Easy enough. Only four more to go." Eyes remained locked on her as she dropped down a few branches, still feeling a bit nervous about her being up there. His heart skipped a beat when she asked for him to catch her, immediately moving into position and holding his arms out in front of him. Luckily for the the both of them he didn't miss his mark and she fell straight into his arms. Farms let out a sigh of relief as he quickly set her back down on her feet. "Well that was exciting. You actually had me kind of scared for a minute. Ready for the next one?"

❝ don't ask me to fix you. I'm just a band aid for your heart. To be honest, Liatris had a moment of panic after she dropped down. A small realization that she could easily die here and that this wasn't just a game. But, sure enough, he caught her and she smiled, wrapping her arms around his neck. " I knew you'd catch me~" Her words finished with a soft giggle, if she knew him a little better a small peck on the cheek would of came. But, she'd save that for next time. In reality, she wouldn't of been surprised if he dropped her but it wasn't a huge deal to her either. She would of just laughed it off and apologized for doing something so reckless, but Farm seemed to have a bit of fun with it. " I mean honestly, this quest was a little boring so I decided to liven it up a little." She spoke, not leaving his arms. " So if you'd like to try me on the next one, feel free!" Still in his arms she pointed to where she clearly saw a kite wrapped around a sign of a store. " Onward!" She was having fun, and decided she'd have him carry her, that was of course if he didn't just drop her, or ask her to get down. Mostly to see if he'd do it, but also because it'd been awhile since anyone had held her... and in this game it felt real which was scary and exciting at the same time. Once they reached the sign she simply stated. " Okay, this one's yours!" and she stepped back to watch him attempt to get this one down somehow. ✎ tags -- ( Farmsalot ) ※ notes: Feel free to drop her or kick her out of his arms or w/e [googlefont=Open+Sans]

Just as he thought he was about to get comfortable she had to start making things difficult for him. Between the giggling and her arms around his neck he had just about frozen in place. On top of it all she didn't seem interested in being set down, and he wasn't about to dump her on the ground. So instead he stood there, his face burning even more red than before.
It wasn't until she started speaking again that he was snapped from his daze, finally turning to look down at her. Liven it up a little? Well at least she was having fun with all of this. Meanwhile he was constantly looking around hoping that nobody was looking at them. He didn't want anybody to get the wrong idea about the two of them. "R-right. I'l uh get the next one." His steps were rigid as he made his way to the next point, eyes locked dead ahead in an effort to keep from looking down at her. He knew he would only get more uncomfortable if he looked at her any more than he had to.
This one led them a short ways into an alley, the kite caught on the corner of one of the buildings. He looked down at Liatris for a moment, a concerned look on his face. "Am I supposed to carry you up there?" As ridiculous as the question sounded he seemed to be perfectly genuine in his confusion. Fortunately for him she started to let herself down, Farms in turn lowering her to the ground and helping to set her down on her feet. "Alright. This shouldn't be too hard."
Farms had done his fair share of climbing in his childhood as well. And one thing he and his brother enjoyed was getting on to the roof of the house while their parents weren't looking. After a quick look around it was clear that the area was designed to be climbed, boxes of varying sizes being stacked nearby to create a pathway. Without missing a beat he climbed up box after box until he eventually made his way to the kite. "Got it!" He shouted down at her as he grabbed the kite and put it into his inventory, ticking off yet another objective.
With that done, brought himself to the edge and gently lowered himself to the ground, managing to land without causing any injury. After taking a moment to dust off his armor he turned back to Liathris, unsure of what to do next. "So...Did you want me to keep carrying you or...?" While he wasn't particularly fond of the idea of carrying her around, she certainly seemed to enjoy it. And after what she had been through today he was willing to make that minor sacrifice to keep her happy.

❝ don't ask me to fix you. I'm just a band aid for your heart. Liatris watched him climb up the boxes expertly and she took a moment to admire the male form. The way his arms moved, the muscle in them. His facial expressions, really no one had better facial expressions then guys. They were so much more subtle then girls, it was probably her favorite thing about guys. That or when they do that soft little grunt when they're working or nervous. Or maybe it's... Well, let's be honest boys were just the best. Liatris was so lost in thought that she totally missed Farms getting the kite and everything. She just had such a thing for boys that she sometimes lost herself in her gushing. But, once he got back down she blushed realizing she had spaced out. She looked at him, finally coming back to virtual reality. He asked if she wanted him to carry her again. She knew that it had made him uncomfortable so that was quite the surprise. She couldn't figure out what he was playing at or if he was trying to challenge her. She looked at him and put on her trademark puppy dog eyes and soft smile. " Why? it didn't seem you liked it that much." Then her expression turned sly and teasing. " Unless you liked the feeling of my body on yours?" After giving him a moment to process she laughed at him. " I'm sorry, you're to much fun. No, it's okay.. but thanks. This is making me feel a lot better." Liatris gave him a genuine smile, if there was one honest thing she'd say today it was that. She felt A LOT better. She wanted to stay and play with Farms for a long while. But that'd require commitment and everyone knew how scared of that she was. So instead she took his hand and asked, " Shall we continue?" ✎ tags -- ( Farmsalot) ※ notes: Feel free to drop her or kick her out of his arms or w/e [googlefont=Open+Sans]

...Did she just blush at him? That little detail completely threw him for a loop, causing him to question everything that happened so far on this quest. She wasn't interested in him, was she? He couldn't think of anything he had said or done that would warrant that kind of reaction. No, that couldn't be it. In fact, she didn't blush at all. He was just seeing things.
He clenched his teeth as the teasing resumed, this little poke almost enough to wound his pride. "No, that's not it." There was fear in his voice as he spoke, his jaw still clamped shut from the accusation. Was he even going to be able to recover from this one? He hadn't even been accused of being a pervert before, so how was he supposed to respond? She didn't seem like she was appalled or even offended by the notion, so why did it still make him feel so bad? It wasn't until she spoke again that he was finally able to relax, her moment of genuineness managing to pull him from his turmoil.
His body relaxed, discomfort starting to fade as he gave her an awkward smile. This smile of hers was different from the previous ones, though he couldn't quite put his finger on why. All he knew was that it was the first one that didn't make him uneasy. "Am I? I didn't realize..." He laughed slightly at that idea. Was she just toying with him this entire time? "I'm glad you're enjoying yourself." He could take a bit of torture if it would help improve a bad day. Besides, looking back it wasn't all bad.
This time when she reached for her hand he didn't freeze up, though the redness of his face did return in full force. "Sure." His movements were still stiff as he lead them over to the next kite, this one stuck on the awning of one of the local shops. "Want me to get this one?"

❝ don't ask me to fix you. I'm just a band aid for your heart. Once again Liatris almost felt bad for him. It made her not want to add him to her friends list, and avoid what she was going to end up doing to him. But, her survival was more important to her so she'd take what she could get. Looking at the kite, she wondered if she should just go for it, honestly it was more fun with her doing it with him rather then alone. So she pulled her hand away from his and rubbed them together. There was obviously a better way for this, but she kind of felt like it'd worry Farms a little. So she stepped back a few steps before jumping onto the awning. She was able to grab it by one arm but missed by the other, making her other arm slip and she went flying into the shop. Without blinking an eye she popped right back up and ran back over. " No wait, I can do this." if anything, Liatris was competitive. So when she saw a challenge for herself she went for it. So, she backed up and ran again, this time clasping it with both hands and pulled herself up. Really, it would of been impossible if not in the game. She then went and grabbed the kite, and had a very annoyed NPC yelling at her. But she simply ignored him and jumped off the awning. She jumped up and down and handed it to Farms. " I did a good job!" She giggled. " You did really well on the last one by the way! I forgot to mention." Something about coming out of a failure and proving to herself that she could do something that she wouldn't normally be able to do gave her a massive adrenaline rush. She grabbed his arm. Farms took a step back as she readied herself to jump up and get the kite. He wasn't sure if this was how he would go about it, but she seemed confident in her decision. Her failed attempt prompted a gasp, a hand reaching out toward her as she collided with the wall."Are you alright!? Maybe I should..." Much to his surprise she seemed unfazed by the collision, immediately reassuring him and getting ready for a second attempt.
He unconsciously winced as she made another jump, only relaxing when the kite was in his hands. "Well done! Just be a little more careful next time?" Now that it was over her was able to laugh along with her, his previous concern melting away. If she wasn't injured, bothered or embarassed then there was really no harm done. Her unexpected compliment caused Farms to divert his eyes and shake his head. "Thanks but it was nothing, really. The boxes were designed to be climbed so..." He shrugged off the compliment, instead turning his gaze to the next objective.
By now he was used to her grabbing his arm as they moved from place to place, though that didn't stop his face from going red. The next one was caught on the corner of a building, with a drainpipe being the only way up. "My turn, I suppose." Not that he would let her attempt it even if it wasn't. Farms opened up his inventory menu and unequipped his boots and gloves, freeing his feet and hands up for optimal climbing ability.
Once again his back home climbing instincts were coming in to play. With his hands and feet free to feel and grip he was able to climb his way up with relative ease. Still gripping on to the side of the building he would reach up and grab the kite, adding it to his inventory before sliding back down. "Well, that one was a bit tougher." He mumbled under his breath as he re-equipped his armor, his gaze eventually falling back to Liatris. He held out an arm while gesturing to their final objective. "Last one's just over there. Shall we?"

❝ don't ask me to fix you. I'm just a band aid for your heart. Man, honestly Lia was really impressed with him. She realized that things were easier in the game and it gave you some forgiveness but he seemed to know exactly what he was doing. She loved watching him do this, and was slightly disappointing that she wouldn't be able to do this quest with him again. Something about watching him was just so much fun. Maybe there was another like this. When he came back she threw her arms around him and gave him a victory hug " That was awesome!" She spoke, before pulling herself way she looked at him with a sparkle in her eyes. " I'm super proud of you!" There was something about complementing people for Lia, yes some of it was so that she'd look better as she manipulated people, but it also felt nice to let people know they were as amazing as they were. In all honesty, maybe she just had a deep love for people she didn't realize. Either way she felt awesome when he offered his arm and she grabbed it tightly. " Yes, lets!" She almost shouted, still pumped from the whole experience. But as they walked the small disappointment from realizing it was almost over filled her a little bit. Pride for finishing a task, and sadness from not knowing if Farms would actually talk to her again. Sometimes she was to much for them and they avoided her the second they could. But such a nice guy wouldn't do that to her! She hoped anyway. When they reached the next area they were supposed to go Liatris was confused for a moment, not seeing the kite. That was until she looked down the well near by and it was there floating around at the bottom. Now, when it came to wells this one was rather small so it wasn't terribly scary. But it was for sure going to be a problem. " I guess I gotta go huh?" She asked, deciding to grab onto the rope of the bucket that went into the well. But as she slid down, it broke as if it was meant too so that it'd be harder to get out of there. But, it made her scream never-the-less. And when she hit the cold water, once again another scream came out. Now, as she sat at the bottom of the well dripping wet she wanted to scream and have Farms come to help her. Which, she almost did. But.. if she wanted to be able to do this she would have too. Plus, she'd still have to climb out even if he came to her rescue. She picked up the kite, and even though it was wet it seemed fine. Video game logic. She sighed and put it in her inventory so that she wasn't carrying it. She saw the obvious path that she was supposed to take, well there were a few choices but you could tell which stones were meant to fall and which weren't if you paid attention. So, she began climbing out, being careful to place her hands and feet where they were supposed to go. She slipped a few times, but after a couple of tries she got the hang of it, and stuck her hand out in hopes that Farms would help pull her out the last minute, and she laid on the ground, clearly tired. " Shit man, that sucked." She said, pulling out the kite from her inventory, and handing it to him so that they were all in his inventory. " I guess we gotta go turn it in huh?" She asked, sitting up and stretching before looking at him, clearly wanting to hold his arm again but she was wet so she would give him a break. " Ready to check out?" ✎ tags -- ( Farmsalot ) ※ notes: She's fun to play~ [googlefont=Open+Sans]

Yet again Farms found himself being faced with undeserved compliments. The surprise hug startled him, instinctively throwing his arms up int the air as hers wrapped around his torso. He let out a nervous laugh, unable to move until she released him. "It really was nothing." As uncomfortable as the compliments may have been, it did feel good to hear that she felt proud of him. That was a concept that he had a much easier time wrapping his head around.
With her on his arm once again they made their way to the well, Farms being surprised at just how energetic she was by this point. She really must have been feeling much better from when the quest started. Maybe it was because the quest was almost done. He still remembered the joy he felt upon completing quests early on. There was a certain feeling of receiving rewards for a job well done that was surprisingly satisfying. Maybe that's why people were so into these games.
He hesitated as they reached the well, frowning as he squinted down the dark hole. It may have been his turn, but he wasn't sure she should be the one to get this one. It looked like it may be the most dangerous one yet. "Maybe you shouldn't..." By the time he looked over at her she was already grabbing the rope and sliding down. He wanted to stop her, but it seemed like it was already too late for that. Hands braced against the sides of the well as he leaned over, watching her anxiously as she made her way down.
The sound of the rope snapping was enough to make his heart sink. "Liathris!?" He leaned further into the well, shouting down at her. It was difficult to tell how far she had fallen, only hearing a splash from the bottom. "Are you alright down there? Should I come get you?" It didn't occur to him that him going down there would only make matters worse, his natural instinct being to jump down after her. Fortunately a moment of clarity reminded him that he would probably just land on top of her. Hard.
Instead he watched helplessly as she climbed up, left hand gripping on to the side of the well as he leaned in with his right arm ready to pull her up. As soon as she got in range he grabbed on, bracing himself against the side of the well to help hoist her up. With her finally out of harms way he let out a breath of relief and put the kite into his inventory, completing their final objective. He kneeled next to her, the worry still clear in his eyes. "Are you alright? You aren't hurt are you?"
Much to his surprise she seemed like she was all set to get back up and turn in the quest. "We don't have to do that yet." Positioning a hand behind himself he lowered himself to the ground next to Liatris. "Lets take a bit of a rest before turning this one in. I think we could both use a breather after that." Farms gloved hands worked at the string around his neck for a moment, untying the cloak that hung from his back. "Here, you must be freezing." As he spoke he extended a hand holding the cloak to her. He wasn't quite sure how the game would handle cold, but he imagined getting drenched would have some sort of effect.
