Without Sonic’s many responsibilities in the real world -or would calling the world outside the waking world or the outside world be more accurate?- and Kiki holing herself up in their shared room still, he was left with a surprising amount of time on his hands. He had no idea how much time he had spent working on things in his daily life until he had been thrown here.[break][break]
It was kind of hilarious to think that working to try and save oneself actually freed up more free time for himself than his actual reality. It really hammered home those Buddhist principles that one of his senseis like to quote to him about freedom and suffering.[break][break]
But with all this time on his hands while he waited for Kiki to find it in herself to go out and adventure as well as waiting for others to get their gear ready for the Labyrinth, he had decided to go out to hunt for boars again. Yes, again because he had nothing else to do with his time and these boars were pathetic enough at this point that he can dance around them and kill them with ease.[break][break]
So with that in mind, he was standing beside the NPC for that quest with a message stating that he needed quest party members who hadn’t taken the quest before above his head. Yes, because if he was going to murder boars, he was going to get money too to fund his and Kiki’s stay at the in as well as his new equipment.[break][break]

 毒食わば皿まで | [attr="class","oh"]The game world drove Goryo mad. He spent most of his morning attempting to move items around in the inn, but was unsuccesfull. Another few hours trying to not pull himself apart from the state of his room. If there was one thing he couldn't stand, it was filt, and one thing this world had plenty of it was filth. Authenticity of livable conditions, to some, and to Goryo is was maddening. Some things he could interact with and others fixed in a spot that made him want to tear the whole world apart. The aggression it made him feel ended up getting himself kicked out, wandering the streets of the tolbana before ending up in the grasslands. Fists clenched tightly and brows set heavily on narrowed eyes. He was ready to tear anything apart, and he felt dangerous. He felt like he needed to do something that might have been considered stupid by his partner. Take on enemies he had never taken on before. Learn the hard way how it felt to get hit by a monster that probably did a lot more damage than you did. The thrill of taking risks always fueled Goryo with a sense of peace. Relaxation. His feet came to a stop as he neared the NPC, eyes trailing to glance towards the taller man with blue hair before turning his attention back towards the NPC boy. Listening to his request before accepting the quest. Gesturing for his menu to pop up, he carefully went through before sending a request towards the blue haired man to join his party. Golden hued eyes watching the man steadily, waiting for a response. would you like to join goryo 's party? | | |

It didn’t take long at all for his mini-advertisement to get a hit in the form of an interested taker. This time it was a short dark-skinned man who he couldn’t quite tell if he was fully Japanese -maybe he was from Osaka or Okinawa or somewhere else with a lot of sun?- or not. But in any case, that wasn’t important. The party invite from someone named Goryo -presumably this dark-skinned man- was the pertinent part of this thing.[break][break]
With a small smile at the man, he pressed accept. ”Thanks for that. I’m Sonic. I will be triggering the quest now, if you don’t mind.” He said and then bowed his head.[break][break]
He turned around and did just that, triggering the quest dialogue and letting the man learn for himself what was in store for him for this quest, which was basically hunting down and killing five boars then returning with the tusks for the reward. Easy-peasy lemon squeezie or however it was the internet termed it.[break][break]
After that, he placed his spear over his shoulder and nodded over to the forest clearing. ”You up for getting rough and bloody -well not so much the blood but yeah- with some boars or do you need time to prep? It’s only five, so it might be quick.” He normally wouldn’t ask this, but he didn’t know how ready this guy was.[break][break]

毒食わば皿まで | [attr="class","oh"]He wished he was tall. He wished he had even the height of an average japanese man, but he didn't. Even with his mother's Arabic genetics, he was cursed to be a short man, and it pissed him off every single time he remembered. So it was no surprise that the man instantly pushed his chest out and pulled his shoulders back once he came to a sizable difference between him and this 'Sonic'.
Most of the time he did his best to not let it bother him, but when people were several centimeters taller than him. He couldn't ignore it right away.
Goryo only slightly pulled his head down in acknowledgement of Sonic's statement of triggering the quest. Golden eyes only moving to look at the NPC for a moment before returning their gaze on the blue haired man. Head canting in curiosity, taking in the appearance of the man's obviously not lower ranking equipment. He couldn't tell the level or the ranking of the equipment, but he could tell just from the appearance itself that it was something crafted.
What's more, his spear was certainly impressive looking. Killing boars was something nothing new to this man. Experience perhaps.
" Let's go. " was the simple reply from the dark skinned male, taking a few steps forward before stopping to glance towards Sonic. A hand raising to gesture in taking the lead. |

Surprisingly, this Goryo guy wanted to take the lead. That or he was just really excited. Either way, Sonic just nodded and proceeded to walk forward but slowed his pace down a bit so that he was walking beside the guy and not ahead or behind. The quietness of the guy didn’t really let him take a good look as to how his mind ticked and the whole chest-out and proud thing only gave him a glimpse that wasn’t nearly enough to assume anything. So equal pace it was.[break][break]
Like the last time he had taken this quest, as soon as they were out of the immediate quest area, he heard a furious snort and squeal in the distance, followed by an angry charging boar. Seeing as this was the best opportunity to see what this stranger can do, Sonic grinned and met the boar head-on in the charge, his spear pointed down. At the last few moments before impact, he extended his spear and swung it up sharply in an uppercut, hitting the boar in the jaw with the blunt end and then sending it flying into the air with a sickening crack from bones breaking at impact.[break][break]
”Batter up!” Sonic shouted eagerly as he stepped away, letting the other man have a clear shot at the boar to kill it. [break][break]
If he could, that is. He was about to find out.[break][break]

 毒食わば皿まで | [attr="class","oh"]Goryo was never really much of a leader. He knew what it took to keep others alive, but other than that he didn't have any charismatic or leaderly abilities.
Despite his gesture for the man to take the lead, he remained at the same pace as Goryo. It caused an eyebrow to raise in question, but he didn't speak up about it. It didn't bother him. Yet, as soon as they left the quest area, the sound of snorting and squeals caught the dark skinned male's attention.
His hand reached for the sword on his right hip and pulled it out. Knees bending, golden hued eyes catching the movement from the other and thus Goryo pushed off to circle around the boar. Just as he was nearing the side, Sonic had already pushed his attack causing the boar to fly into the air with the sickening crack of bones breaking at impact.
Coming to an abrupt halt, Goryo quickly shifted his center of focus and poised his sword across his body. Jumping up into the air, he released a horizontal slice at the flying pig. He moved a lot slower than he had anticipated and nearly missed, just getting the side of the pig as it shot back towards the ground near Sonic.
Flipping his body, his unused right hand barely caught him from face planting right into the ground. Rolling and then coming back up to his feet, he turned around to look at the damage he may have made on the pig. He certainly wasn't as fast or strong as Sonic, and he was still getting used to the limitations the game world put against his real body, but like hell he wasn't going to try.
He gritted his teeth and furrowed his brows, slashing his sword to point at the ground next to his body. Obviously not pleased with himself. |

Sonic stared when the guy swung and… nearly faceplanted on the ground? He resisted the sudden strong urge to palm his face and bit back a similar urge to snicker, keeping his face as straight as possible by remembering his long hours of practice during just that in front of fumbling students. Wasn’t the game supposed to prevent instances like that? It was already correcting newbie forms but it couldn’t correct proper use of momentum in all these faux-sword users? Well, at least he had good recovery.[break][break]
Worst of all, that glancing blow hadn’t been enough to kill the boar and now it was angry. Weak, but angry. Angry much more at him, of course, but a quick thrust to the skull with the tip of his spear killed it and forced it to shatter before it could really do anything.[break][break]
Once the guy was up, he didn’t say a word to comment about it and simply moved on forward with a small nod. However, it was only a few steps in before a new one came charging in. My, they were proactive today.  毒食わば皿まで | [attr="class","oh"]He never understood the difficulty that he had in the game in comparison to others. He wasn't sure what it was that made him more clumsier than everyone else. Perhaps he had accidentally did something in the settings when he was having a terrible time with the menu and he unactivated or activated something that made his movements more...well normal in comparison to the more graceful and guided form of others.
Whatever the case was, he wasn't going to let it stop him from trying to get better. He just had to compensate for whatever it was.
Watching as Sonic dispatched the last boar, his attack not having been enough to kill it, Goryo watched silently as his attention flickered towards the other boar headed in their direction. He bent his knees and swirled the sword in hand, ready to give it another try.
Sure enough, Sonic gave him that chance. Glowing his sword green, he spun his spear twice hitting the boar right under the chin, causing the boar to fly up into the air once again.
Taking that chance, Goryo followed suit in allowing his sword to glow green and launched forward to rush at the boar. Keeping the sword at the ready by his side, he jumped forward and delivered a diagonal cut at the boar. This time he actually hit it square in the gut causing it to fly up into the air more.
Twisting his body around with the slice, he landed on his feet this time. Allowing for his knee to bend as he lands to absorb the recoil of the landing. Golden hued eyes watching in anticipation of what was going to happen next. |

The resulting display Sonic got from Goryo as he watched the man cut into the pig was a definite improvement this time. Still flashy with excessive movements -which was saying something from a spear-user like him considering that spear styles tend to move their weapons a lot more compared to other weapon styles, barring the likes of the nunchaku and the three-sectioned staff- but that might be the guy’s style. He guessed that the guy was free to be as flashy as he wanted since the game was helping him out -sorta- with the movements anyway, so he didn’t comment on it and just nodded.[break][break]
The pig was still alive though, so after it fell back to the ground Sonic stabbed it straight through the skull before it could stand up again. Said pig then shattered and faded away around his spear, but he wasn’t taking the time to marvel at it this time and simply pulled it away.[break][break]
The sound of the boar’s death attracted yet another one, making him smirk in amusement as it charged at him in the same way. Typical. He spared Goryo a glance before performing the same motions as before and launching it into the air with an upwards swing from the blunt end of his spear, but this time its trajectory was not purely vertical. No, it appeared to be… headed towards Goryo himself? Yep.[break][break]

 毒食わば皿まで | [attr="class","oh"]His attack, once again, wasn't enough to finish off the boar. Somehow he knew that may never be the case, but it could chance later. His golden hued eyes watched as Sonic just casually stabbed it through the skull, the pixilation of the boar fading away into nothingness happening again. Two boars, that just left three more.
Soon enough, the other boar started making its way towards them once again. Sonic reacting naturally to it and launched into an attack. Swinging his spear upward to bluntly cause the boar to fly into the air, but this one was different. He hit it differently, and it didn't take long for Goryo to sense that it was coming straight at him.
He had to make a split second decision on how he was going to handle it. Was he going to dodge to avoid getting hit, or would he attack it head on. Both had their advantages and both had their disadvantages. Yet, Goryo's hotheadedness made the decision quicker for himself.
Quickly pulling his sword in front of him, he pushed forward with his feet and met the boar along its trajectory coarse towards him. Using his sword as more of a blunt instrument then a cutting instrument, he pushed with all his might into his sword and in essence batted the boar back towards Sonic.
Physics of course still existed in the game, and Goryo found himself feeling the recoil of the Boar's kinetic energy against himself causing him to fall backwards. He stumbled for a moment before catching himself. |

Sonic’s eyes widened in surprise when the man decided to bat back the pig at him instead of just striking it up or to the ground. And with naught but a sword, no less. Those things were not made to bat things back. But after a beat, he gave the man a small smile of approval as he casually stabbed at the pig flying at his face, causing it to explode into crystalline shards that blew past him, thankfully not hitting his mouth or eyes.[break][break]
He gave the man a small nod before noticing from the edges of his wider range of vision that two more boars were charging at them. He clicked his tongue once at the sight of them before inclining his head at them. After that, he ran at them with his spear pointed down as usual, then met the first one with an uppercut motion with his spear to send it flying up and at where he knew Goryo was. He then pivoted around and crouched, spinning his spear in a horizontal plane and then smashing into the second boar’s side, sending it flying towards Goryo as well.[break][break]
”Head’s up!” He shouted as he stood up and then turned around to see what would happen. He didn’t know how Goryo would take to having to deal with two boars at once -and flying ones at that- but he would just have to see for himself.[break][break]

Somehow he was slightly impressed with how Goryo handled the boar, but that didn't really affect the man. He just merely nodded his head and quickly turned his attention towards the two boars headed in their direction.
His lips pressed together as did his brows, watching intently as he watched Sonic handle two at the same time. The man launched and sent the first boar flying in his direction, and then pivoted to send the other also in Goryo's direction.
How nice of him.
He merely scowled at the action, holding his arms out with the sword at the ready. Both of his hands curled around the hilt of the blade and extended the blade in front of him. Spreading his legs apart, appropriately, he waited for the first boar to fly towards him before cutting diagonally at the boar to send him flying off a ways and then positioning himself again to step forward and slash at the other boar headed towards him.
It certainly wasn't any easy task, but he managed to pull it off. Getting back into a defensive position to be ready, although he had an idea that Sonic could take care of them the rest of the way. The blue haired man watching him, however, didn't escape his eye. He had a feeling the man was just playing with him, curious to see how he would react to certain situations. It was annoying. So he merely gave a deadpanned look towards the other. |

From the deadpan expression on the man’s face, it seemed that Goryo finally caught on to at least part of what Sonic was doing. In return, he gave the man another small smile back as he took a few steps to the side and forward in order to stab the first boar that he had flung away. The boar predictably shattered as it was wont to do as soon as the spearhead went through, and this time he took the time to pick up the boar tooth that had fallen and pocketed it before looking over at the angry beaten boar barely clinging onto life glaring at him.[break][break]
As if to taunt it, he casually sauntered over near where he had been and then picked up some of the other boar tusks instead of engaging it, making it even more angry. With a squeal, it charged at him right as he was pocketing the other boar tusks, but simply finished pocketing them and then performed a quick thrust from his spear that reached it far before it reached him. It abruptly froze when the spear went through its skull and then shattered into pieces just like its brethren before it.[break][break]
”Hey, great job! Thanks for the help.” He remarked cheerfully as he swung his spear over his shoulder and then picked up the remaining boar tusks. ”You were really improving quickly for someone who hasn’t used a sword before.”[break][break]
He then looked at the guy thoughtfully. ”Did you want more practice though, or maybe a bigger target than the boars that are easier to hit?” He couldn’t help but ask after he gestured for them to start going back to the quest NPC and then starting to walk in that direction.[break][break]

He never cared for people playing with him.
Placing a hand on his waist, he idly watched as Sonic finished disposing of the rest of the boars. Catching him taunting the last boar with just grabbing the tusks before killing it with a simple quick thrust.
He grunted at the 'great job!' part and placed a hand on his stomach to idly scratch. Deciding he didn't really want to pay attention too much to this guy.
" I trained in kendo when I was younger. " he stated dryly before finally returning his eyes back to Sonic. Listening to him and then follow his gestured hand to head back towards the quest NPC.
He shook his head, sliding the sword back into it's sheath as he matched his steps to Sonic. " Maybe another time, I need to find A-Otsukisensei. " |

He trained in Kendo when he was younger? No wonder it wasn’t translating as well as it probably should have. Kendo was a two-handed sword style, not a one-handed sword style. Katanas were meant to be wielded with two hands for the most part due to tradition and the weight and balance of the sword, after all, plus sticks of any kind never quite measured up to the real deal. He would know - he still remembered the first time he wielded a real spear and how the weight threw him off.[break][break]
Still, the falling and the flailing was not reassuring of the man’s skill in the least. Maybe he was just extremely rusty? As in ‘hadn’t practiced in a decade whoops’ rusty? Maybe. Oh well. No skin off his nose, especially since Goryo refused his offer to quest some more.[break][break]
”Okay then. Good luck with finding that guy.” He said with a polite nod as they continued to walk to the NPC. It didn’t take long for them to reach the NPC afterwards to hand ‘em the tusks and get their reward as a result. After that, they parted way, one to go off to do more questing and the other to… do something.[break][break]
