(Don't) Let the Cats Out of the Bag Kaito had spent the last few days wandering listlessly through the cobblestone streets of Aincrad's Town of Beginnings. At first, it was hard for her to manage to get out of her bed at the inn, but she knew the only way she would get home would be to play this game. If you could even call it that. The only way to survive is to live, and Kaito determined that the best way to do that was to avoid fighting. She doubted that wearing an electronic helmet would improve her lackluster athletic abilities, and she was too nervous to try to prove herself wrong. Even if killing a pig would be relatively simple, was designed to be relatively simple, Kaito could not bring herself to challenge them. She knew there had to be some sort of questing element to this game, though, and decided that grinding out some levels through menial tasks would be much easier than diving head first into hand to hand combat. The only problem with *that* plan was finding quests.Kaito watched the sky darken, as if the sun were being obstructed by clouds. Does it rain in this game? She questioned internally. Kaito was pulled from her mental monologue by the sound of a frantic elder NPC. "Ma'am...?"Her response brought up the Quest dialog box and Kaito scanned the objective. Lost cats? That seems pretty menial.. Kaito glanced up at the dark sky and sighed. Hopefully I can find a quest partner before it starts to rain. She made her way to the side of the street and stood under an awning, flipping on her "Seeking Player" beacon and began to wait.

his stupid game wasn't going to beat her! There was no way she'd die here. After all, she wasn't some side character, right!? [break][break] Toto rolled her shoulders with a confident nod as she wandered through the Town of Beginnings. When she had seen her dad designing some of the buildings in his sketch book, Toto hadn't realized just how detailed he was. The entire game was amazing. It was so cool to have seen the game get put together over the past couple of years. If she wasn't trapped within the game, Toto would have been enjoying seeing the fruit of her father's labor. [break][break] Sighing, the girl rolled her shoulders. Right now she had to get serious. Toto knew things about the game others probably didn't... At least she hoped she did. Truth be told, she probably should have paid more attention when her dad showed her things. He was always showing her what he worked on... He was just so excited to have a kid who liked games as much as he did. (Don't) Let the Cats Out of the Bag While waiting, Kaito let her mind wander back to the real world. At about this time, she'd be in class. Instead, here she was, trying to find a stranger to help her wrangle some digital cats. And she desperately hoped that whoever she found would be a bit more experienced with this environment because she was so vastly out of her element.
The sky grumbled a bit, and Kaito distinguished the sheer amount of detail that was put into this game. Maybe she'd just gotten used to it, but she was having trouble discerning this full dive from reality: everything just seemed so true, so accurate. The idea that she would possibly consider this game her home one day, well, that frightened her.
Kaito snapped out of her thoughts as she saw someone approaching. She gave the stranger a warm smile.
“Yes, I am! I was hoping that I could get a handle on how things here worked..but, I don't have anyone to do these quests with... Would you like to help me?”

oto loved the full dive technology. She hadn't been allowed to play with it when her father was developing it because she was too young, but the girl had eagerly watched her father tinker and toy with it. He always brought his work home and involved her in it. Being able to actually experience it was fantastic. Even if the game was a death game, this was a world her father had a hand in making- she couldn't hate it. She had seen her father stay up late hours working on everything. “I'm.. decently new, I guess,” she said. “I've played a few here and there but nothing like this.”
She looked the other player up and down and was impressed by how confidently she held herself, as if she were familiar with this environment.
“I take it that you know more than you'd like to let on about this game, don't you?” Or at least you think you do...
Kaito stood up. “Well, anyway. While I'm not the best at games, I do know a little bit about cats,” she said. “And if it's going to rain... I'd expect to find them in dry places. Do you know of anywhere that's kind of.. “hole in the wall” around here? Like, maybe a broken screen to a crawlspace, or an unmanned fruit stand that could serve as shade and shelter?”
