Honestly, August had no idea what she was doing here. The entrance to the Labyrinth was just one area over and she had heard from others that players were already trying to summon others to join them inside. However, she was smart enough not to go wandering in there. With no equipment and just a simple upgraded weapon from the starter pack, August was in no shape to go anywhere that dangerous.
She was sitting on one of the benches in the square, admiring the fountains with a picnic basket by her side. She had come down this way to buy some ingredients to try her luck at cooking again. The first cake she had made turned out pretty okay, but the stat boosters were pretty dismissal. She didn’t expect them to get much better until she was able to add more ingredients. Until then, it didn’t hurt her to experiment with what she could do now.
A carrot was being swung around August’s left hand like a student who was so bored in class they resorted to weaving their pens through their fingers. The carrot was bulkier in size and made the task a little more difficult, but August managed to do it without dropping the vegetable after a few attempts. Could she make a carrot cake with just five ingredients? She figured it was unlikely.
A stream of chatter from two passerby players caught her ears. August wasn’t skilled at eavesdropping yet, but they walked by close enough and talked loud enough that she knew they were talking about making preparations to go into the Labyrinth. It wasn’t hard to tell that they were equipped for it either. Shining swords in holsters with heavy armor hanging off of their bodies; they looked like forces to be reckoned with.
Sighing out loud once the two had passed, August rested her chin in her free hand. If only she had equipment, maybe then she’d be able to actually follow suit. There were tailors and craftsman around, but her funds were dismal and she had no vision for what she wanted.

毒食わば皿まで august / social / 374 / promise to be more quicker now | [attr="class","oh"]The dark skinned male messed with the end of his dyed red hair, golden hued eyes glancing down for a moment before returning their vision to the horizon before them. He could feel the eyes of many suddenly turning to glance in his direction with mild shock and confusion. One player stopping in the middle of his conversation to gape with his mouth open as he followed the dark skinned male along the street.
They had all good reason. It wasn't very often that you'd find a player walking in the middle of the street with no shirt on. No armour on. After the Kayabo incident, most went running quickly to the shops and player crafters to get armour made. Wanting protection and anything that could get between them and dying.
Goryo certainly had the same feelings, but he couldn't stand the lower level armours. Since he had mostly been busy with other people's armours, he hadn't even had the time to make his own armour. They were just....The ones you could buy from the shop were bad and ugly. Absolutely hideous. And even though he had broken down to buy them for the sake of having something, he was lothed at this moment to even wear the shirt.
Though, it was more than just not wearing a piece of his armour that distracted so many that he passed by. It might be the colourful tattoo work that decorated the whole of his body save for his chest. Anyone from Japan or not even from Japan knew what that meant.
Yakuza.
But Goryo didn't even care at this point. He just wanted to be free from ugliness. That was what gave his sick mind attention.
He passed through the streets and made his way towards the square of Tolbana. Golden hued eyes watched intently through half-lidded eyelids at the people that passed through or sat at the square.
He came to a stop towards the fountain, taking a seat on the edge as he ran a finger through the water. Allowing the sensation to fascinate him. He was still amazed at how the nervgear attached to the nervous system to send these sensations to the brain, allowing for you to feel them in game. |

August heard people gossiping about him before she laid eyes on him herself. They were whispering as if they wanted to appear to be mindful, but even a whisper isn’t really considered a whisper if some girl three feet away could hear everything going on crystal clear. She only caught onto them saying how he ought to cover himself up before they walked away in a hustle, as if they were trying not to be followed. How odd.
She leaned over herself to look down the pathway where the two players had walked from. There was someone approaching who stood out noticeably more than the others. Most people stood out to August because they were decked out in gear or wearing some obnoxiously flashy clothing item, but this man wasn’t wearing a shirt. In winter.
Her curiosity was peaked. It was snowing and she felt cold, yet he walked as if he wasn’t fazed by the weather at all. August was some mixed of impressed and concerned. Impressed if he actually could feel things and the cold didn’t bother him; concerned if he didn’t realize what temperature it was outside. People were leaving him alone entirely, making it easier for her to swoop in.
With a swing of her legs, August hopped off the bench and scuffled over to him. She didn’t even wait for him to acknowledge that she was present before blurting out, “you know it’s cold, right?” Maybe he already knew, but it never hurt to warn a fellow player of the dangers that might lurk unseen (like frostbite). goryo

毒食わば皿まで | [attr="class","oh"]He continued to run his fingers through the cold waters before pulling them away to encase with his other hand. Cupping them and bringing them to his lips, letting out a hot breath to sooth the chill that emanated from his hand. It wasn't that he wasn't aware of the cold, he could feel it very much. The lack of caring about wearing something ugly and the exhilarating feeling of knowing that you're alive, it kept him grounded.
He slowly began pulling his hands away from his lips as he slowly turned his attention towards the girl approaching him. Watching her slowly come to a stop near him and then open her mouth so uncouthly.
“you know it’s cold, right?”
He watched her with half-lidded eyes, gauging if she was just stupid or concerned for his well being. Canting his head to the side, he raised a single eyebrow in question.
" You know you look like shit, right? " he countered, pulling his hands back up to his lips to breath hot air onto them. Was she lost? Trying to strike up conversation?
Either she didn't know or she just didn't care. Or she was stupid. He was more inclined to think the later.. |
