Another day in the grind. He didn’t think it possible, but Sonic was starting to get a little sick of seeing the exact same environment without change. He was used to change and flow and chaos and a lot of other things and the strange stagnancy that permeated the game that they were all trapped in for the moment actually rankled. Moreover, it pissed him off just a little bit, as it helped to underscore just how helpless they all were in changing things until more people stood up and got their shit together.[break][break]

Still, at least he had the daily grind to try and busy himself with as he prepared himself for the inevitable labyrinth run that he had to do in order to actually progress to the next floor in this damned game. And maybe then he’d level up past the rut he found himself stuck in despite the murder of countless -to him anyway, the game itself probably kept count- of mindless mobs.[break][break]

That was why he was waiting right next to the quest giver, sitting on the bench with a quest beacon and a request for newbies to come along to help him out on this quest all presented nice and neat. Kind of like people-fishing.[break][break]

Great, it was the beginning of his YouTube channel all over again, except this time the stakes were higher and the returns were… just as slow, honestly.[break][break]

Well, if that wasn't the most suspicious tagline ever, then he didn't know what was. "I hear if you climb it, you'll grow as a person and might even find something cool on top!" As weird as it sounded, Domino knew as well that this was, despite the threat of death and the feeling of realism on their five senses, nonetheless a game too. And games were notoriously known to have rather cheesy lines in regards to certain aspects of the game, just to catch the player's attention. Grow as a person from climbing the mountain? Of course, that would be a given, considering the mental and physical tax that it priced on the person, but Domino had a feeling it was a tad bit more than that. This was, after all, still supposed to be a stat-based game.

Whatever the case, despite his musings about it, Domino was still colored interested, especially since his participation in this quest was already a given, considering there seemed to be one other person who was already seeking to do it. No need for that waiting game of, as in gaming term, LFG -- looking for group. Having replied the 'call' with a simple message of 'OMW', Domino would proceed towards the destination marked in his mini map by the game. Of course, it did not take long, really. A surprise to the young red-head when he realized he was already in the area. And of course, he spotted the blue-haired player that was present at the quest-giving NPC, and slowed in his approach as soon as he did.

So, he was Sonic, hm? The name had been given in that world message, in his call for newbies. He knew of this method being taken by the blue-head. Pax had done the same thing to him, volunteering to help level up the weaker members in order to create a stronger force so as to ascend Aincrad. Domino had no complaints about being labelled a newb for the moment, for in every aspect of the term, he accepted that he was still as such. However, at the same time, he was determined to step out of that range. He'd make his own mark too, sooner or later.

"Yo," Domino called out as he reached within earshot of the other player, a right hand slackingly giving a wave to the other prisoner. And then, with the same hand, he opened his menu. "Sonic, I'm guessing?" he inquired, just in case, as he began to maneuver around the pop-up menu, before tossing a party invite towards Sonic.

Sonic shouldn’t be surprised that he kept seeing new people every time he did this stunt -he was literally asking for it after all- but it was still there as he saw this foreigner redhead approach and give him a wave, asking him if he was Sonic before sending him a party invite. You’d think with only approximately ten thousand people in the game that he would have seen them all by now, but that wasn’t the case. Besides, even if he had his memory wasn’t the best and he was likely to forget the more, ahem, forgettable faces that he’d only crossed paths with once or twice.[break][break]

”Yep, that’s the name. Don’t wear it out.” He joked lightly as he accepted the party invite with a small grin. ”I’ll let the NPC give you a run down for this quest. It’s their job anyway, so might as well.” He continued with a small nod as he turned around to the NPC he was standing beside and cleared his throat.[break][break]

”I heard something about mountains?” With that, he managed to trigger the quest dialogue, though he only half-listened as he waited for this NPC to finish, having already heard this time and time again. Once they were done, he accepted the quest confirmation that appeared on his interface before turning to this redhead. [break][break]

”So, Domino, right?” He said as he remembered the name attached to the party invite. ”You ready to go or do you need to buy something from town?”

Well, at least he wasn't overly proud of his superior strength, even allowing a light quip into their conversation. Domino could only smirk lightly, as he then averted his golden eyes towards the NPC. Sonic would then mention of having the NPC carry on its task, and he knew that they would have to do it anyway, to activate the quest. And so, he reacted simply with a nod of his head, before following behind Sonic as they approached the quest-giver. With the triggering question, then, the quest description would come. And though Domino had already been given the gist of it, he nonetheless listened, once more curious as to what he meant by "grow as a person". Now that he thought about the game itself, it must be some kind of boost, right? After all, in this world, a 'person' was a 'player', and one defined what a player was capable of, were stats.

And with that, the quest was accepted.

”So, Domino, right?”

"Dom is fine," he answered back, and then listened to his following question. Did he? Not entirely, right? He wasn't looking yet to pimp himself up that much, and was seeking to meet the basics first. He had already managed to purchase a mostly-full set of armor for himself, anyway, and he figured that should suffice. Tapping his weapon, he realized that he had yet to get that sorted out. He was still using the basic weapon that had been handed to everyone at the start of the game. He glanced down at it, before releasing a sigh of defeat. How much longer did he have to use this pig stick?

"Yeah, I'm ready to go," Domino replied finally, bringing his chin back up so that his eyes met that of Sonic's. For now, he would have to depend on his partner. In his heart, though, he made the silent promise that he would try to get himself to be on the same level as he was, or close to that, so that he could work together with the blue-haired spearman. He wasn't going to allow himself to stay the passenger forever. "Lead the way."
