August couldn’t contain her excitement when the NPC initially started asking for her help. Reindeer? August had never seen one in person (or in a realistic VR like this) before. The thought of being able to potential touch their fluffy coats excited her immensely; it wasn’t until she read the actual quest details that her face dropped.
Pigs were significantly less exciting. They were everywhere in this area, but as a consolation prize August could witness the pigs wearing cute antler accessories. The task itself appeared to be easy enough. The pigs she needed to find were marked enough that she wouldn’t have to approach every single one she came across to find out which ones were the reindeer.
She peered over the NPC’s shoulder at the empty pen and traced the hoof prints across the light snow. They went in a line for quite a ways before becoming jumbled up and scattering. “Hmmmm,” August mumbled to herself. She wasn’t going to be able to follow them now that the prints were all on top of one another.
Shrugging, August accepted the quest and sat on one of the posts of the pen to wait for someone else to come by. She could see some pigs off in the distance, but they were too far away for her to determine whether or not they were wearing cute antlers. She let out a sigh of relief that it was just pigs and not something else. Out of all the monsters on this floor, the pigs were the least intimidating.

Pax kept his mouth in as straight a line as possible. He had taken off his armor and shoes and had been walking around the fields barefoot, fighting some of the pigs. There was no real reason for it other than trying to make himself get used to the cold. He considered it to be kind of like a personal training regiment, hardening both body and mind. But god, it was freezing.
Of course, while he'd been out in his old clothe pants and shirt, he'd seen some other players messing around with what had looked like pigs with fake reindeer antlers glued to their heads. The reindeer pigs hadn't really fought back, and he'd been intrigued. Upon questioning a couple of the players, he discovered that there were new winter quests that had been implemented. He figured that made sense. It would be good for people to have seasons in this game to help them not feel as nostalgic. And, like usual, he had to do all of the quests he could, so he was on his way back to where they'd said the quest giver was.
He didn't expect to see a familiar face, though. Approaching the quest giver and his pen, he'd seen the pink hair, but honestly, a lot of people had pink hair in this game for some reason. It wasn't until he got closer that he realised it was August. He waved at her dramatically and smiled. Of course, she probably wouldn't recognise him out of his armor. He was barefoot and wearing the starter shirt and pants. He had that nice sword attached to his hip and the basic wooden shield on his left arm, but he doubted she'd be able to recognise him based off of those alone.
"Hey, August, right?" he smiled as he got closer and made an over-exaggerated bow, flourishing his shield arm behind him, "I'm Pax, if you remember me. Are you looking for a party to do this holiday quest with?" august
