The common routine that Domino had been partaking these past few days had been to take up another one of these low-ranked missions, grumble about it, suck it up, and finish it anyway. However, this time round, that was not the case at all. In fact, after reading what this particular quest entailed, Domino seemed rather eager to get it done. He was holding onto the piece of paper tightly, as if fearing that it might slip off of his person, as he raised his chin, looking up at the quest giver. The woman was an NPC, devoid of any true emotions, and programmed with reactions for almost any interaction done by players. Yet, at the same time, Domino felt for her. This Tim had struck a chord in his heart, for he was in a predicament that Domino was all too familiar with.
Being small and sickly, Skyle Godfrey had received a different treatment from his elitist of a father. The Godfrey family was a prestigious one with an extensive history of achievements, after all, and having a predecessor that was weak and fragile was unacceptable. It was the reason why his younger brothers, both of them, were treated with better care than he had been. His future was set in stone as a support for the two of them, despite him supposed to be the next in line to be the family head. Being small and sickly had been his curse, and he remembered how helpless he had been against it.
And knowing that this Tim, despite being just a humanoid bunch of code, was feeling the same lonliness, Domino was compelled to aid him in any way possible. To show that there were people that cared for him, unlike how he had grown up. Perhaps, it wasn't even that. Perhaps it was just him trying to deal with his own past, to prove to himself that such a life was something that could have been fixed. That was a more selfish way to look at it. Whatever the case, unlike his past mundane quests, this was one that Domino had a personal investment in, and his attitude towards it was a clear enough of a sign for that.
Readying himself then, he would begin to make his way towards to respective stores for the items in the list, but just as he turned around, he found himself almost bumping into a raven-haired female. zero quest

| | Her fingers moved quickly over the virtual letters, tapping out a message for one of her new friends. She’d still not found anyone who was heading back to the Town of Beginnings – only her, it seemed, who wanted to move backwards rather than forwards – but she knew that trying to make the journey on her own would just be suicidal. Being keen to progress didn’t mean making stupid decisions.
She followed behind another player absently, paying more attention to what she was doing rather than where she was going. Only to come to an abrupt halt when he stopped and turned and she kept going, clumsily brushing up against his chest.
“Oh! I’m sorry!”
She blinked up at the guy she’d accidentally bumped into, cheeks warming in embarrassment. Since she’d been walking along with her menu open, the collision had been entirely her fault. Waiting to be scolded, or ignored entirely, she hovered one hand nervously over the bottom half of her face.

"Ooof,"
It wasn't that the impact was particularly hard, no. His reaction had stemmed from the fact that he had been caught off-guard by the impact, not having expected to bump into someone the moment he turned around at all. It was just something that didn't happen everyday, even in the real world. It was one of those coincidental things that happened, that often meant that the two were meant for something. Or perhaps Domino's mind had ran too much off the rail here from a single impact. He lowered his gaze, looking down at the raven-haired woman that stood before him, with his eyebrows furrowed. Usually, he would click his tongue in annoyance, or something along those lines, but the red-head was too focused at the moment on Tiny Iim.
With that, he simply sighed, before waving it off. "It's fine. Just watch where you're going next time," he averted his gaze, looking past her as he reminded himself of his objective. Ignoring the beauty that stood before him, then, he started to mentally map his route out towards the store. Just as he took his first step past the woman, though, he found himself coming upon a random thought. Most of his quests had been done with a partner. This time round, he did not have anything of such. Adding to that, there really was no reason for someone to come this close to the house unless they were seeking to do the exact same quest. He blinked, and glanced over his shoulder.
Was she going to take the same quest too? Allowing his curiosity to get the better of him, then, Domino chose to stand his ground for the moment, and see what her next move would be. zero

| | Apology accepted and quickly dismissed, Zero made to move off. She’d already done the quest the other day with August, so had no reason to pick it up herself. If Domino was interested in having someone else to do it with, he would have to be the one to ask.
She glanced at the quest NPC as she passed anyway, and at the horde of children peeking out. What would happen to the items when players handed them? There would be no time, let alone point, to make anything out of them all. The materials probably just disappeared from the system as soon as the quest was completed. Maybe they’d scripted it into the system that Tiny Tim would receive a present anyway, so any players visiting after Christmas would feel like they’d made a difference. A moment of hope and accomplishment in the midst of the chaos of the death game.

No sign of stopping. No hint of slowing down. Nothing. Domino blinked. Nothing. Nothing. "Uhm, hey?" he finally called out as she walked past the quest giver. He sighed in defeat. He had been expecting so much to team up with the raven-haired girl, and had reflexively called out when she walked past the NPC. He blinked before frowning and averting his gaze. Why did he call out? He could have just continued this quest on his own. There wasn't really any requirement in the quest brief that said it had to be done in a party, right? He took a deep breathe, before releasing a sigh. Raising his chin once more, he steeled himself. He'd already gone this far, might as well go all the way through. "Up to do a quest? Right now? With me?" he asked, pausing briefly in between the questions. Once again, he pondered to himself exactly why he found it compelling to do the quest with her. He could not deny that she was easy on the eyes, but Domino wasn't so desperate as to embarrass himself for the sake of her attention. Maybe it was just coming close to Christmas, and this was the first Christmas that he would be spending away from home. It was the game's fault, for sure. "It's the Tiny Tim one." zero
