Einar looked around the town center watching both players and NPCs interact with each other. His notifications would light up as someone would put out a LFG or Quest Beacon, he would just end up ignoring them, some he'd give a read to but in the end, most of the people already had their groups set up. It had been a little over a month since Kabaya's announcement and after the shock of it wore off most people began gearing up and training to beat the game so they could escape. Einar had chosen to delay finding gear and questing so that he could help get his little cousin situated and in a safe area. He had heard of how atrocious and horrible it was for Kabaya to do this to the players but, for Einar and his cousin at least, there was a silver lining that made his mind a bit more restful. His cousin hadn’t had a seizure since logging in and he was considered healthy as can be. He was finally free from the cage of his disease, even if he was in a new cage now.
Einar took a seat on the edge of the fountain and dipped his hand in. The warm water felt weird on his hand. This was just a video game, but still, to feel the water on his skin, the wind brush his hair against his back, and the ground under his feet, it all seemed too real to be just a video game. He gave a sigh and pulled his hand out of the water and dried it on his shirt. He opened his menu and gave a look at the starter equipment that he had been given when he first logged in and clicked his tongue in disappointment.
He gave another look around the area and saw most people were well geared and probably a few levels higher, which was now making him regret having waited a month to get started on questing and gearing up. He figured the best way to get a jump on his delayed start would either be to just go out and hunt some pigs or grab a quest. He hadn’t used the combat system yet so he had no idea how he’d even do in a fight, couldn’t be much more different from when he was a Ren Fest combatant right? Or it could be drastically different because Death was supposed to be real in this game. Death in game was death in real life. And he refused to die so early in the game. He spoke out just in general and not particularly to anyone around him.
“How in the hell do I catch up to a month’s delay?”
