[attr="class","Mute"][googlefont="Iceland:400"]Die reinste Freude ist die Schadenfreude
[attr="class","capsule"]To Capsule, it seemed like everyone else was out being productive with their extended stay here. Whether that be in the form of questing, gathering intel, crafting, or just jacking other players of their lives and shit, they all had something to focus on. She envied the lot of them, especially the player killers. PvP was one of those things that made her very uncomfortable, and she couldn't even begin to fathom the amount of stress orange and red players had to endure.
The redhead took a sip from a bottle of cold stuff. The NPC who sold it to her claimed it was cider, yet it tasted more like slightly carbonated water. It's like the AI couldn't process the idea of flavor or taste buds. She wondered how many were offed by disgruntled players. That went double for greenies who produced low quality food and items. Just the idea of being ganked like a corner merchant made her wary of taking up crafting and setting up shop -- besides, there were plenty of people to do that for her.
She was used to being overlooked, invisible to the eyes of those in too big of a hurry to look down. Like an ant. Sticking close to safe zones was how she'd avoided trouble for so long. The most someone could do to you in town was cheat you out of your money or offer some (easily ignored) verbal abuse. It worked just as well on NPCs as it did players--
"Yo. Small fry."
Capsule blinked at the unexpected voice, before attempting to block it out and return to her reverie. It was rare for anyone to hassle her, so surely the cry was intended for another. "Hey! Stop spacing out when I'm talking to you." A tall, provocatively dressed woman stood before her, arms folded firmly against her chest. "We don't have time for slackers around here. Make yourself useful and relight these lanterns."
The redhead could only gawk at the woman -- no, the NPC. Some of them were so well designed that they could be mistaken for human. If you observed them long enough, however, it was clear they were nothing more than computer programs. "But it's…dark and spooky," she feebly protested. This wasn't a serious request, was it?
"Exactly! That's why we need your help." Capsule was inclined to think of it as mere laziness, but she really wasn't interested in arguing. Besides, she managed to make it all the way out here without being molested. And fighting wasn't her thing, so…
"Okay, you've talked me into it." She hoped this paid well. Not like she would complain much. Capsule was virtually a door mat, after all. She didn't like making a fuss and was quick to forgive. "So where do I start--"
"Be sure to find a partner! It's dangerous to go alone."
Right. Her least favorite part of MMOs and team heavy games. "Oh, snickerdoodles…" Capsule froze in place as the NPC left, wide-eyed and with a belly full of dread. Being PK'd was a preferable alternative to socializing with people. She didn't ask for this.
