Pax sat on the bench, donning his old starter clothes. He'd just finished kill a few pigs without his armor on and decided it would be more comfortable to stay that way. Frowning down at his worn boots, he wondered if he should spend some Col on getting some nice looking lounging clothes. With this gear, he looked like any other beginner. He considered the positives, however. Passing as someone who didn't know what they were doing had it's own advantages.
"Today's been boring," he brought his hand up to his face and rubbed his temples, "God, I wish it'd get more interesting."
The hustle of the crowd around him made him worried that something was going to happen. There always seemed to be some kind of drama, some twist in the unknown plot that Kayaba had planned out for the players. Wolves in cafes. Pigs assaulting you at the end of quests. Monstrous eggplants rising from the ground in almost squadron-like formations. The last one sounded a little weird when he thought about it, but the first time he'd fought a nepent, he'd only viewed it as a large eggplant with vines that moved it around. What a strange game this was.
With a disdainful sniff, he flicked open his menu, rummaging through party requests, friend requests, and notifications. Maybe someone would post up a request for some adventure in the works. He really needed some kind of pick me up after helping so many low leveled players. Even the dire wolves weren't enough to keep his mind occupied anymore. He needed a distraction more than anything. He locked eyes with a few people in the crowd, but none of them seemed the slightest bit interested in him. Maybe he should equip his gear. He shook his head with an almost snarling expression. He didn't want some idiots fawning over him for his gear. He wanted someone to enjoy a challenge with. He nodded to himself and stood up. He'd walk around town and look for someone who looked like they'd be up for it. And then he'd help them get to his point.
Maybe if he wasn't bored alone, he wouldn't be bored at all. selkiray Quest We're Probably Gonna Do

Selkiray craved a challenge. In the past she had hopped from game to game, pushing herself as far as she could go. With the unveiling of the NerveGear, a new era of gaming had been ushered in, and of course she would be there to ensure her claim was well and truly laid. Of course, that was merely before Sword Art Online was turned into a game of death...
With an exasperated sigh, the raven-haired girl made a swiping motion, bringing up the menu. This was the one part of role-playing games she had always disliked: the early-game starter quests. There never seemed to be a happy medium for how they were created. It was always either ten levels' worth of hand-holding, or a gigantic pile of peculiarities that no sane person could rationalise. Fetch 58 watermelons? C'mon now...
In this particular case, it wasn't entirely terrible. A few fetch quests here, a couple of kill quests there. Unfortunately most of the kill quests seemed to be above her level in recommendation, and where usually she would throw caution to the wind and just dive in, that wasn't an option. Dying at level 1 would be an embarrassment.
As a result of this, Selkiray had decided to search for a party member or two in order to start making progress. Though it seemed that, unlike most people, who had joined with friends or family members, she was completely alone. As a result most parties were either full, or not looking for extra players. The girl roamed the streets somewhat aimlessly, taking pause now and then to 'ooh' over some fancy equipment that was well beyond her price range.
Just as she was about to give up, she spotted what she thought would be a prime target. Not a huge distance away she could see a man, clad in similar equipment to her own. A fellow newbie, ripe for the picking! Weaving her merry way through the crowds, she did her best to accost him before he could escape. "Hey~!" she called out, a little louder than she had intended. "You're on your own too, huh?" It was probably rude, but newbies had to stick together. And if nobody else would party up with her, this one would have to do. PAXILON

Pax yawned, sleeve of his worn shirt pressing against his mouth in an attempt to suppress it. He closed his eyes and shook his head a bit. He idly started to walk with the flow of the crowd, content with wherever the condensed mob would take him. He had a knack for finding trouble, so he was sure he'd find something interesting soon enough. Before he could walk even two steps, however, a voice cried out to him. His lips flattened out and he turned around to face the assailant. Newcomer? Acquaintance? He really needed to shake the habit of thinking everyone was an enemy.
He let his face soften before he looked like he would attack her. His stance was proper as he waved politely, but his face was grinning from ear to ear like a child. Just at a glance, he knew he didn't need to go anywhere. He could feel that the trouble had found him, instead. He lessened the intensity of his smile and cocked an eyebrow slightly, just barely tilting his head.
"Yeah," Pax looked back along the crowd and sighed, almost happily, "I suppose technically I am alone right now. Doesn't matter too much to me either way, but . . ."
He turned his gaze back towards the newcomer, his face suddenly much more serious than before and he stared her down. Starter gear. She'd been looking for someone to help her, he guessed. The way she'd asked if he was on his own, as well. He scrunched his nose to the side when he realised he wasn't wearing his armor. He looked down and sighed a bit at his clothes. He definitely needed an outfit for social outings. He looked back up at the girl with a shrug.
"I'm guessing you're looking for party members, right?" Pax opened up his menu and scrolled through it deftly. Reaching the party creation tab, he sent out a party request to the girl. He bet she hadn't even done a single quest yet. How long had they been in this game now?
"I'm Paxilon, by the way. Most have taken to calling me Pax, though." selkiray

The man's reaction pleased her. Truth be told, Selkiray was expecting him to spurn her, proclaiming to be some kind of brilliant solo player, or something to that effect. It'd be a real buzz-kill if she wound up having to go questing alone, not to mention restrictive. The smile he gave her felt warm, true. Inwardly she breathed a sigh of relief.
Flashing a grin of her own, Selkiray glanced at the party invitation. So eager to please, too! She quickly hit the 'accept' button, as if afraid the invite would disappear before she could get to it. Her gaze flicked off to the left slightly, seeing his health bar appear below hers. She hadn't gotten used to the way virtual reality worked yet, and she probably looked a little silly in doing so.
With a slight frown, she returned her gaze to Pax. It pained her to seem like a new player, but unfortunately she hadn't had much time to read the game's manual. With it being a first pressing, it made a lot of sense to get it and head right on home to check out the world of Aincrad. So that's what she had done. It had taken longer than she'd care to admit to even figure out how to open the menu, but mechanically everything was fine now.
"Nice to meetcha, Pax. I'm Selkiray, and most people call me... well, Selkiray. Or nothing. Most people don't seem to have any time for me, since y'know." she waved her hand vaguely in the direction of the sky. "Everyone's still preoccupied with that, so it's been kinda difficult to find anyone with potential, y'know?"
Before barely a moment had passed, she spoke once again, clearly glad to finally have somebody to talk to. Or at. It wasn't certain which was correct. "Anyway! Enough about the sad stuff. We aren't going to get out of this game if we don't beat it, right? And there's strength in numbers! ... or safety. Not important. I figured I'd find a party and... do stuff. I don't want to just hide here on the first floor forever, y'know?" PAXILON

Pax nodded solemnly as he watched Selkiray fumble about with the menu. Definitely hadn't done any quests yet. He put on a solid smile, watching her closely. From what he could tell so far, she seemed interested enough in actually powering up. He thought about the dwindling amount of people willing to go into the labyrinth and suddenly nodded in response to her rambling.
"Indeed, most people are preoccupied with not dying," he paused and shot a couple more glances around the crowd, seeing a few familiar faces here and there, but no one he really knew. Who was he looking for? "I hear the people that are at the head of the labyrinth diving are in desperate need of more players capable enough to fight the stronger monsters. Hmm."
Pax genuinely smiled at Selkiray and shrugged playfully, "Maybe we can do some of these quests together and go to the labyrinth sometime. I'm pretty eager to fight the enemies that are in there, anyway. I'm pretty positive they drop some awesome loot sometimes."
He deliberately left out the part where he'd already been into the labyrinth, figuring the girl would probably be more comfortable questing with someone about her level. He stayed quiet for a moment and reached up to scratch his chin. He considered where the nearest quests were. If he remembered correctly, the locket and the kite quests were closest. He decided the kite one would be best, considering how easy it was to complete.
He nodded at Selkiray and spoke before walking off against the crowd's momentum, "There's a quest I know of that's pretty close to here, come on!" selkiray
