毒食わば皿まで | [attr="class","oh"]Golden hued eyes surveyed the green scenery with a carefully attentive manner. Sweeping slowly from one side to the other, horribly unmatched cloth shoes padding through the rubbled grass. The dark skinned male rubbed at his nose, squinting his eyes to look for that damned locket. Gazing over his shoulder for a moment to make sure that Togashi was still following after him.
" Met any girls you like yet? " came the idle chatter from the dark skinned male. Something unexpected from the usually quiet man, but he was curious. He was a young boy, and he understood that at that age boys had certain desires.
And Goryo had to be honest with himself, looking for a locket for a little girl wasn't exactly exciting by any means. It was simply for the money, but it was something small and easy to do with his nephew. He didn't want to put him in harms way, not yet anyway.

The sleeves of his shirt were rolled up as to keep them from getting wet. Knelt over at the waist, his fingers running through gravel and water in search of a single shiny object. He had already done this quest once before and wasn't exactly fond of it then as he was now. A sigh escaped him as he stood up to alleviate the pain in his back before bending down again. It was another average day in Aincrad. Though, one thing was different and that was the presence of his uncle. Marth hadn't been aware that he was in the game until the other approached him and even then it was a mild shock. But at least his uncle was here rather than being accused for his absence in the real world. The teen expected a few choice words but was instead taken on a quest to find a girl's locket with his uncle in tow. This was nice, for lack of a better term. Just hanging out with his uncle. Until he asked the dreaded question. " Could I just pretend that girls don't exist," he sighed. " It would probably be a lot easier than the reality." A certain blond came to mind and his shoulders slacked. Since their meeting, he couldn't get her out of his mind, and it wasn't for good reasons. What she said stuck with him and made him rethink a few things in particular. " Do you know anyone in the game by the name of Prince?" goryo[newclass=.pricklebear1]background-color:#fff;height:auto;width:400px;margin: 0 auto;box-shadow: 1px 1px 2px 1px #c0c0c0;border: 10px solid #f9f9f9;font-family:Arial;font-size:11px;padding:24px;text-align:justify;[/newclass]

毒食わば皿まで | [attr="class","oh"]There could have been a lot of things that Goryo's could ask once finding his nephew stuck in the game as well. Like the most important question, why the hell was he in this game? All, which would in the end be pointless and a waste of time. Goryo found that asking questions was just a waste of time. If he wanted answer, he'd just be silent. Silence was the ultimate tool to getting what you wanted. It preyed on people's conscious to the point that they would confess without even having to be prodded verbally about it.
But for now, he just opted to ask a question that had no bearing on anything. The answer he was given was even more amusing to him in the end. That was until he asked a question himself that made things very...peculiar.
The dark skinned male stopped in his search to turn his attention towards Marth, eyebrows pulling upward in a slightly confused and surprised look. He knew exactly what the boy was asking and he didn't really care to realize that.
" Yes. " was the simple answer, the older man turning his attention back towards the creek. Stepping towards it and slowly walking along the banks of it. Eyes searching for anything that resembled a locket of sorts. A glimmer.

If there was one thing that his mother warned him about, it was deception. Marth had become rather impervious to the effects of silence and the space between conversations. Though, there were times where he slipped up and admitted to things or said things to fill the silence. But when in the presence of his uncle it became a game to see how long either side could remain quiet. He continued sifting through soil and water until the other man piped up. Standing up, Marth looked back at him and then at the space in front of him. He didn't want to give away what he was feeling or make it too obvious that he was curious about the blond-haired fighter. She had been plaguing his thoughts for quite some time and to his delight dismay being free of her wasn't an option. " Do you know if she's doing alright lately?" He knelt down and started sifting through again. Keeping his voice light and airy as to hopefully not give anything away. He could only hope. " I've just been a little worried about her, y'know. Since she's my age and seems kind of emotionally fragile." Well, he could just tell himself that was the only reason. If he kept repeating it then there was a chance that he'd believe it eventually. goryo[newclass=.pricklebear1]background-color:#fff;height:auto;width:400px;margin: 0 auto;box-shadow: 1px 1px 2px 1px #c0c0c0;border: 10px solid #f9f9f9;font-family:Arial;font-size:11px;padding:24px;text-align:justify;[/newclass]

毒食わば皿まで | [attr="class","oh"]He slowly turned to look at Marth fully, half-lidded eyes watching the boy unamusedly. He caught that, and he wasn't letting that go. Sighing slightly and pulling his fingers through his hair, he briefly glanced back towards the creek as he thought over Marth's question and words.
His nephew had a crush on a spoiled little girl. How he wasn't all that surprised and yet very surprised at the same time.
" I wouldn't try asking her on a date. " he responded, beginning to pull the sleeve of his own shirt back to reveal a heavily set of tattoos that wrapped around his arms. Once satisfied that his sleeves had been neatly and properly in their place, he began walking more closely towards the creek to get his own hands in there to look.
Bending over, he took great care to not get his shoes wet as he stepped on a protruding rock. Bending his knees and crouching close towards the slowly flowing stream, his fingers submerged and began rummaging around.

Alarm shot throughout Marth’s body but he resisted the urge to tense up against his uncle’s statement. Of course, he had to give something away especially when he was trying so hard not to. His uncle knew him well so it may have been a lot easier to see through him more so than anyone else. But he was more concerned with the reasoning behind his words rather than him finding out what his possible intentions were. “ Even if I wanted to do that,” Marth said. “ Why shouldn’t I?” Was there something about Prince that his uncle knew which he didn’t? Obviously, she couldn’t be anything too bad. His family were practically the worst individuals in society that he could think of but they were also his most trusted allies. Even if his uncle wasn’t exactly clear in his words or intentions, he was at least looking out for his best interest. That is what Marth wanted to believe. His mother’s words were ringing in his head and he pushed it aside in favor of concentrating on the mission. “ Check under some of the rocks." goryo[newclass=.pricklebear1]background-color:#fff;height:auto;width:400px;margin: 0 auto;box-shadow: 1px 1px 2px 1px #c0c0c0;border: 10px solid #f9f9f9;font-family:Arial;font-size:11px;padding:24px;text-align:justify;[/newclass]

毒食わば皿まで | [attr="class","oh"]It wasn't that he knew a lot about her, in fact he knew nothing. The only thing he had on her was conjectures and instincts. Instincts that told him that she was a bad idea to try to get close to. Even if she might be a decent person, after the game would be the issue. Having found out that she was a beta tester and getting an idea of what she was like on her own. He could only conclude that she didn't get that beta testing spot on her own. Which meant that her family had some pull either politically or wealth wise. He just knew if the kid ever did develop serious feelings, things wouldn't turn out well in the long run.
" She smells like trouble. " he put it bluntly. While he didn't exactly have the most stellar of reputations, he cared for his family. Even if he was the son of his most hated half-sister, he was his nephew. That rung more than him being the son of his half-sister.
He nodded his head, however, once given the command to check under the rocks. He had never really done this quest, so it was all new to him. His fingers felt around carefully for anything that seemed smoother than it should be. Pulling rocks up and turning them around to see what he could find.
What a pain of a stupid quest. He just hoped the money was worth this shit.

Marth could have laughed at how serious Goryo sounded. Prince wasn't anything to be scared of at first glance and he didn't know much about her. Well, in hindsight, he could have laughed at him. It was true that chasing after momentary affection based on something that was so fleeting couldn't give anything in the end. Marth knew that. He had seen it too many times in the faces of his peers or adults that he'd observe. Bounding from one partner to the other without any acknowledgement of the chaos that they left in their wake. It was messy and disorganized. Something that he didn't want to be apart of at all. Turning his eyes away from his uncle, he frowned slightly. She was the first girl that he met in the game who was around his age. The emotions that she showed and the things that she said swept him up in a flurry of feelings that he wasn't exactly sure on how to navigate through. It had been quick and he found himself falling even going out of character. Puppy love. His mother said that he'd feel it at some point and he had. Time and time again. But logic won over adulation and left him in a state of confusion. Why do I like her anyway?Glancing over at Goryo, he noticed something glimmering in the water. " Hey uncle, look right there." He pointed underneath another smooth rock which was a bit larger than the first that the man toppled over. goryo[newclass=.pricklebear1]background-color:#fff;height:auto;width:400px;margin: 0 auto;box-shadow: 1px 1px 2px 1px #c0c0c0;border: 10px solid #f9f9f9;font-family:Arial;font-size:11px;padding:24px;text-align:justify;[/newclass]

毒食わば皿まで | [attr="class","oh"]He didn't get a response from the kid which said a lot about the situation. He either didn't believe his uncle on the matter or he wasn't sure at this point on what he should do. Goryo just shrugged his shoulders and continued in his search. He could only warn the boy of the dangers, and leave the rest for him to learn on his own. Perhaps in the end, all his caution will be for nothing. In that case, he hopes that's how it turns out.
He swept his eyes from one side and then to the other, fingers grasping for any rock in sight to flip over. Eventually his attention was caught by Marth's words, his eyes instantly darting towards the direction he pointed. The glimmer of something causing his body to instantly make their over there to grapple with the rock and throw it off to the side.
The locket!
He picked up the small locket, pulling his body straight as he admired the simple craftsmanship. It wasn't made of any outstanding material, but it was still worth something. The kleptomaniac in him almost made him pocket the item, but he resisted the urge. The edge of his lip pulling upward into a lopsided smirk.
Not looking in the direction of Marth, the older man extended the locket out towards Marth to see.
" Jackpot. "

If there was one thing that Marth was thankful for, it was that his uncle didn't press on a subject after it had died down. He wasn't sure of what he felt for her but it couldn't be anything serious. Love came in different forms but some were fleeting. The more logic that he poured onto the situaton the less prominent the feeling was. Prince was amazing in her own way or at least for fighting even when she was afraid but he didn't know who she was as a person. And there was a chance that she felt the same towards him in that regard. Shoving the thoughts aside, Marth grinned and crossed his arms behind his head. " Great! Let's go turn it in." Turning without waiting for an agreement, the younger player climbed out of the creek and started his trek back into town. He was silent for the most part during their walk to the NPC. And once his gaze fell to the younger girl, she brightened up immensely at the sight of the locket. Marth smiled a little and lowered his arms. Still hard to believe that they're just made out of data. His thoughts trailed back to dangerous waters. If his feelings were so quick to diminish then any relationship inside of this world would be —. He silenced his thoughts and looked back at his uncle after the quest details came up signaling that it came to an end. " Not exactly sure why you think she's trouble," he said. " But I'll be careful." goryo[newclass=.pricklebear1]background-color:#fff;height:auto;width:400px;margin: 0 auto;box-shadow: 1px 1px 2px 1px #c0c0c0;border: 10px solid #f9f9f9;font-family:Arial;font-size:11px;padding:24px;text-align:justify;[/newclass]

毒食わば皿まで | [attr="class","oh"]He nodded his head in reply and followed after the boy in the direction that they needed to go to turn the locket in. Once they reached there, he extended the locket towards the NPC girl and watched as she burst into pure joy at the sight of the locket. Happily accepting the quest item, signifying for the both that they had completed the quest.
It didn't take long for the dark skinned male to become disinterested in the girl, his eyes glancing off in a direction to think about what he was going to do next. Probably meet up with Arata and see what they should do. Take on some more quests. See about armour and better weapons so that they're not lagging behind everyone else. Maybe even have din-
"Not exactly sure why you think she's trouble," "But I'll be careful."
Goryo paused in his thoughts to slowly turn his attention towards his nephew. His head canting to the side as he blankly stared at him, guaging his expression on thinking on his words. So he didn't get it, that was fine. Perhaps Goryo was thinking too hard on the situation, but he didn't back down on his thoughts. Neither did Marth.
The edge of his lip suddenly quirked upward in a snort, teeth flashing from the expression.
" Good. " |
