August was ecstatic that she had wandered into a cute little farm! She didn’t really have a comparison point when it came to the farm itself, but the fact that she managed to discover a new location she had never been to before excited her. It appeared to be rather safe as well. With all the open fields it was easy for her to spot any potential enemies to run away from. She was still a bit skittish, but August figured it was about time for her to try her luck in actually fighting something.
She was hoping that out here she could corner a single enemy and work on killing the creature slowly. Her sword wasn’t exactly the best and her skills were more focused around defending than attacking, but she figured it was worth a shot. Out in the distance, she could see a few farm animals in fences and some less tame creatures running around in a field further away.
Curious, August began walking towards the field. She noticed a figure standing near the edge of it, although it was hard for her to really see who it was at this distance. She walked closer with a sense of urgency before slowing down her pace once August realized it was an NPC of a boy who looked more irate than anything else.
Starting off with eye contact and a smile, August waved at him. Before she could even get a word out of her mouth, he began spewing the premise of the quest out to her. Hesitantly, August eyed the boars in the nearby field. They looked a lot more intimidating from this close up than when she had first reached the farm.
Maybe this wasn’t such a good idea after all, but then again it wasn’t as if she was even able to do anything without someone else to help her. The system wouldn’t allow it and August would never attempt this on her own. She had no idea how strong those boars were and she had no desire to die finding out that her little sword and lack of equipment wasn’t enough to handle them. Worse, she might end up endangering someone else’s life.
She didn't want to drag anyone into her mess and certianly did not want to be a hinderence. Maybe it would have been better if she came back at a different time when she was better at understanding how to fight and had better items to help her to do. "Waiting around and observing might not be a bad idea though," she mumbled to herself. If someone else took up the quest, then she could watch and learn how to fight with her sword so that she could tackle it on her own.

Raiken walked through the woods while keeping an eye out for anything dangerous. She had just gotten her license to smith and was looking for monsters while within the forest hoping to see if any of them dropped metal for her to start forging with. As she walked through the forest she noticed a quest NPC and a girl talking to the boy. Shrugging, Raiken thought she might as well do the quest with the aforementioned girl. Raiken approached the irritated NPC, and acquired a quest to slay five wild boars to collect their bounty.
Following the girl at a distance, Raiken wondered if she would be willing to work together with someone that was level one. Shrugging to herself, the young girl followed after the older female silently. Once the older girl stopped, Raiken stopped five feet behind her and waited. While the older girl muttered to herself, Raiken wondered if she wanted help or not because the Frenzy Boars looked pretty tough and might just take them out without any difficulty if they were not careful.
"Do you want help," the young silent girl asked as she continued to look at the older one. The tone of the voice was monotone. Even though Raiken was a serious person, she wanted to see the reaction of the older girl due to Raiken had been silently following her for quite a while.

This farm was quickly becoming one of his favorite places in the game. Whenever he needed to relax and unwind after a stressful quest he would just come to the farm and watch the NPCs go about their business. He may not have been able to work along side them, but at least he could imagine himself in their shoes like he was back home. Best of all, it helped strengthen his resolve to make it home through all of this. If he wasn't careful he would find himself being whittled down by this world around him, which would almost certainly lead to defeat.
With a fond sigh Farms turned his attention to the area surrounding the property, looking between the field of boars and the quest giver. Occasionally players would pass through the area and he could do a quick quest with them. It may have been one of his most hated quests, but if he didn't do things he didn't like then he wouldn't have gotten as far as he did. This time saw a young woman speaking to the quest giver, who was in turn being followed by a shorter, and presumably younger, girl. Neither of them seemed to be particularly well equipped, which was more than enough reason to approach them.
He moved quickly across the farm toward them, a hand raised in the air to get their attention. The sight of a heavily armored man bounding toward them may have been intimidating, so he did his best to appear friendly even from a distance. "Excuse me!" He raised his voice to get their attention, eventually making his way over the short fence and to the pair of young ladies. "I'm sorry for approaching you like this! I just saw you speaking to that NPC and..." Farms paused and let out a nervous laugh as he flipped up his visor, revealing his previously obscured face. "Again, I'm sorry this may seem strange to you, but were you two thinking of doing this quest here? If so I would be happy to help."

August squeaked in surprise when Raiken spoke to her. Her face transformed into a cheery grin almost immediately after her mind comprehended what the girl had said to her. “I would love help,” she admitted, “although I was going to just sit and wait here to let someone else do the quest and watch because I’m honestly not of much use. But maybe with enough people, we could tackle it.” She didn’t want to make assumptions about the other player’s level, so she let the sentence hang in the air for a bit before smiling and turning her attention back to the NPC.
Everyone looked like themselves in game, but that didn’t mean they were of higher level from starting off earning EXP earlier than she did. August had a late start and there were plenty of people she had run into that didn’t appear to be strong but could certainly harm her a great deal if they wanted to.
Startled once again by a loud voice, August quickly turned to look at the oncoming player. Just by observation she could tell he had gear that the two of them severely lacked. Maybe this was the help they needed to be successful here. August was about to open her mouth to ask for help, but Farmsalot beat her to the punch. She couldn’t help that her expression light up as he offered his assistance. “Yes!” she answered as soon as Farmsalot’s last word left his lips. “We would love help,” she said as she looked over at Raiken, hoping that the girl wouldn’t say anything to contradict the offer she had just accepted.
“I’m going to be entirely honest, I’ve never even hit a creature with a weapon before,” August admitted as she accepted the quest from the NPC and sent the two other players party invites. She couldn’t imagine that it was too difficult given that everything else in this game worked purely off of skills and proficiency itself of prior knowledge. It was the act itself that was nerve-wracking, given the fact that she had ever tried to do it before. Did the sword move on its own, or did her arm’s muscle memory suddenly know exactly what to do?
“Maybe you could demonstrate once?” she asked hesitantly. raiken Farmsalot

QUEST?: Hog Wash TAGS: august Farmsalot NOTES:FRENZY BOAR LV. 1 ”A large angry boar! Is it the pig's cousin!?” This large angry boar reaches to just below the shoulders of the average man. It's incredibly aggressive and is known to have a high aggro rate. 100 HP | 25 STR | 0 DEX

Personal Stats HP: 100/100 STR: 0 CON: 0 DEX: 0(+5) Raiken was amused with the sound that the girl made. She could barely contain the amusement on her face, but she managed to do so. As she listened to the girl in front of her a thought came to her mind, equipment gave stat bonuses didn't they? She had recently bought a cloak. Scrolling through her menu while listening to the two of them, Raiken found what she was looking for. It was a white cloak. A simple white cloak that would give her plus five in dexterity. Surely with that much dexterity, she would be able to dodge the boars attacks without any problem.
But she remembered something from one of the guides that she read in the menu. She had to wait a half minute if she were to dodge an attack due to her not having a dagger. Raiken only had the beginner's sword that she had acquired at creation. It wasn't a good sword, but it was better than nothing.
As she accepted the friend request she listened to the girl say she has never fought anything before. Why then, did she decide to take this mission? Why not take the easier bacon bonanza mission like Raiken did only a few days before? "Alright, I shall demonstrate but it'll take a while due to this piece o' **** sword," she replied to the girl. Near the top of her vision she could see the name of the girl. August… Interesting name, Raiken thought.
Walking forward with ease she aggroed one of the boars which charged her. Charging up a sword art, the girl waited for the boar to come near her. Once the boar had, the girl charged it with her sword art. Slashing at the boar horizontally, the girl rushed past the boar before turning around and slashing once more at the boar's backside while it continued forward. It squealed in pain as Raiken slashed it twice.

He was slightly taken aback by her sudden response. It seemed like usually there was a bit more back and forth before his help was accepted. This one seemed like she was actually eager to receive some assistance. "Well alright then." Opening up his menu he navigated to the menu and set August a party invite before turning to Raiken and doing the same. She seemed like a quiet type, so he assumed that August was speaking for the both of them. It was always good for the shy to have a good friend there to speak for them when they were unable. Maybe that's what these two were.
While his menu was open he went ahead and equipped his spear, having put it away while he was lounging around the farm. He could relate very well to August's combat concerns. He had been very much the same way not too long ago, only relatively recently coming to terms with having to kill what at least appeared to be living creatures. "There's no shame in that at all. Not everyone is a warrior, at least I certainly know I'm not. We're all just people trying to adjust t-" His thoughts suddenly came to a grinding halt, the movement of Raiken running off toward the boars catching his attention. She didn't intend to go off on her own, did she?
Clenching his spear tightly in his iron plated hand Farms dashed toward the girl. "Wait!" By the time he cried out it was too late, she had already began attacking the boar. Fortunately it had yet to have a chance to strike at her, and her positioning made it so it would take a moment for it to get into a spot where it could strike. While he had to admit he was impressed by her abilities, he could tell that her gear wouldn't be enough to take it on by herself.
Once he was in range he lunged forward with his spear, piercing the digital beast.(60 damage) As it recoiled from the strike and let out a loud squeal pulled the spear back and took a step forward before thrusting into it once more. (60 damage) As soon as the beast exploded into crystals he would move toward Raiken, putting a hand on her shoulder. "Please be more careful." As he spoke he tried to nudge her away from where the boars were grouped, back over toward August. "These things can really hurt you with those tusks. I know you want to fight but stay behind me, alright?" He did his best to be gentle with her, considering her age and perceived shyness. He really hoped he didn't hurt her feelings.

Before August could tell Raiken she hadn’t been talking to her, the girl had already started running towards the boars. The two of them shouted “wait” at the exact same time after she had darted away. Neither had been fast enough to stop her before she was out of arm’s reach. Now that they were in a party together, August was able to see more of each of their stats. That wasn’t even necessary to figure out that Raiken wasn’t nearly as well equipped as Farms was to handle these boars.
August just stood there and let Farms take care of defending Raiken from the boards. She wasn’t going to charge in there to defend someone and get herself killed in the process. If she had better stats she wouldn’t have hesitated, but it made more sense to let the more experienced player take care of things.
She only jogged over to the two of them once Farms had defeated the boar and it exploded. He had managed to kill it in only two slashes and August couldn’t hide her amazement as she approached the two of them. “Wooooow,” she stretched the o sound for a few moments before returning to a smile, “could I try that? I mean, I probably won’t be able to kill it at all but maybe just hit it once or twice like Raiken did?”
They could try to isolate another boar so the rest wouldn’t try to harm them. August didn’t want to overload the poor guy, especially after he had been so nice in offering to help the two of them out. “I think I understand how it works, you just approach and swing and the game mechanics handle the rest, right?” It didn’t look much more difficult than that, unless there was something else that August had failed to notice when the two of them were attacking.

QUEST?: Hog Wash TAGS: august Farmsalot NOTES:Personal Stats HP: 100/100 STR: 0 CON: 0 DEX: 0(+5) Raiken stared blankly at the man. She knew she could've beat the boar, but she guessed she couldn't do it due to her armor and sword. 'I really need to get new weaponry, and armor. I haven't come across any player craftsmen yet, but maybe they just don't advertise their wares willy nilly,' she thought while she was scolded by the man in the metal armor. She wondered briefly if she could get leather armor or even cloth armor made for herself instead of the clunky metal armor that would restrict her movements a lot more than what leather or cloth armor would.
After thinking about it a bit more, she accepted the party request. Pulling her hood over her head she wondered what'll happen throughout the rest of the quest. Internally sighing, she might as well just go along with what this man tells her to do since she does know she doesn't have good gear, not yet anyways. "You will never know unless you do it for yourself," Raiken told the girl that had accepted the quest before her. She had a complete look of neutrality on her face, she was irritated that the man had pulled her away from the boar.
Why not let her fight the boar? One couldn't grow stronger if they did not risk their lives to do so, especially in this death game. 'Now that I know it's speed I could take it out but would take me ten strikes to do so if I used nothing but sword arts,' she thought after glimpsing it's health bar drop by around ten percent from her two strikes to it, before the man completely killed it with his two attacks. "One does not learn how to fish by not trying to do so," she said while looking at the man. She was telling the man let the two of them do it, and to only interfere if one of them was about to be fatally wounded.

August's praises were enough to make his face go red. He let out a nervous laugh and shook his head, his free hand waving dismissively. "Thank you, but it's really not all that impressive. I'm no more skilled than you. In fact I know someone who could have easily killed the boar in a single swing." The praise was kind, unwarranted. He hadn't done anything impressive or noteworthy, so he did his best to push past it and focus on the subject at hand.
It was a little worrying that both of them seemed intent on helping in this quest. He was hoping the two of them would just sit back and reap the rewards while he did the work, but he couldn't blame them for being so eager. It wasn't as if he was the type to sit back and let someone else do all the work either. "Ok, alright. You two can help. But please be very careful with these things. One hit can do about a quarter of your health, so stay on your toes." He looked over his shoulder the field, humming in thought on how he was going to make this work. After a moment of consideration he turned his gaze to August. Raiken already seemed to have a good grasp on the mechanics, so he didn't bother instructing her. "That's about it. Did you see that stance that Raiken took when she slashed the boar? That's a Sword Art. Take that same posture and swing for extra damage. But once you use it, you can't do it again for a little bit. So just swing the sword normally as a buffer. Make sense?"
With all of that out of the way he turned back to the field of monsters. "I'll lure a couple over here. Both of you focus your attacks on the same one and don't worry about me. Stay put and stay ready until I get them over here." With his weapon at the ready he cautiously made his way deeper into the scattered group of mobs. Once he was close enough he would beat his gauntlet against his breastplate, the loud clanging of iron against iron sounding through the area. "FIGHT ME!" His previously calm soft tone suddenly turned loud and aggressive as he let out his shout, the three closest boars instantly turning their attention to him and rearing up on their hind legs.
Farms quickly made his way back to the other two, being sure never to turn his back on the advancing monsters. Once he drew closer to his party members he would gesture toward the one furthest to the left with his free hand. "There! You two get that one! After you attack I'll try to regain it's attention." Fortunately he would be able to dodge all three of them at once with little issue, leaving plenty of time to worry about the other two.

August raised an eyebrow at Raiken’s logic about the fish. She supposed it made sense, but there was a different between learning a skill like fishing and poking an angry bear with a baseball bat. Yeah, a few blows could land on the bear, but the bear was much more equipped to rip a limb off before its skull got bashed in. Although, August couldn’t sense much annoyance coming from Raiken. Maybe it was her neutral expression or how her she held herself, but she figured against offering some comforting or encouraging words; the girl didn’t look like she needed them.
“Oh no, I certainly think you are! I’ve never even swung a sword before and you clearly have many times. I think that’s a difference in skill right there.” He was being humble, but she was going to give credit where credit was due. She nodded violently in understanding of Farm’s advice. Four hits and she was dead, understood. She would do her best to hit-and-run. If she couldn’t then just simply running behind Farms would probably be okay. Maybe she should ask first? Using people as meat shields wasn’t very polite. “Can we hide behind you if they get too close?”
August held her sword out in an offense stance as Farms shouted. Her head whipped back over to him when his entire tone and volume of voice changed. He sounded so different when he was yelling; it was a tad frightening. Her attention followed Farms’s gesture to their assigned boar. With a gulp, she rushed forward and slashed at it normally first to just get a grasp of how the sword worked.
To her surprise, it was easy. The game mechanics made the actual action feel like something was guiding her arms as she aimed. It wasn’t so hard after all; she had been nervous for nothing it seemed. Pulling the sword back and angling it horizontally just like Raiken, August almost yelped in surprise as her Sword Art activated. She rushed the second attack slightly out of panic from the sudden change in her sword, but it hit all the same.

QUEST?: Hog Wash TAGS: august Farmsalot NOTES:Boar B: 68/100 HP
Personal Stats HP: 100/100 STR: 0 CON: 0 DEX: 0(+5) Raiken listened to the silver haired man stating that he knew someone that could take out a boar with a single swing. 'I want to meet this person,' she said with barely hidden awe. As he talked, she kept her neutral expression on her face while she imagined the mighty warrior. She imagined them as an incredibly large man with brown wild hair one eye, in a loin cloth and scars throughout his body, and wielding a sword-like club weapon.
When she started listening again and got out of her daze she heard the man shouting fight me and signalling that they were suppose to fight one of the boars on the far left. Raika prepared her blade while she watched the woman strike at the boar and perform a sword art against it. It was the same one that Raika had used previously.
'Might as well start off strong,' she decided while holding her blade horizontally. The sword art activated, and Raiken charged forward before the boar could attack the older girl. With a mighty slash to the other side of the boar it squealed in pain making it target Raiken. Without hesitation, Raiken stabbed at the boar's face to make it falter once more.
With the four strikes they had gotten the boar down to sixty-eight health. "Keep attacking it. Don't let it recover," she ordered at the other girl while Raiken backed away from the boar, to let her have a clear shot at it.

He smiled to himself as August so politely asked for permission to hide behind him. Fortunately if things kept going their way no one would have to hid behind him. The question was did he help them with their current target, or simply keep it's attention so that they can get their kill? He could probably get a single hit on it before it died, judging by it's HP bar. Still, they would probably be more satisfied if they managed to secure the kill on their own.
Taking another deep breath he would pound his chestplate again, letting out a firm shout. "Come!" Despite being attacked previously by the others, the injured boar was unable to resist his call. The three boars charged at him, their tusks colliding with his armor, Farms driving the shaft of his spear into the ground to help him keep balance. The pain was dull and manageable, a quick look at his HP bar telling him he could keep this up for some time. Still, he wasn't about to sit still and take the beating all day. "Don't worry about me. I'll keep it's attention, you two just keep at it." His voice remained calm as he spoke normally, his tone apparently unaffected by the surrounding monsters.
With a swing of his spear, he brought one of the boars down to less than half health, teeth clenching as he did so. It was self defense, so there was no shame in harming these creatures. But that didn't mean he had to like it. He would have to make a mental note to introduce Raiken to Gran sometime. Maybe she would be able to help look after the girl.

August was about to charge in for another attack per Raiken’s request when she heard Farms’s redirect the board’s attention to him once again. She paused for a moment to let the boar become distracted by him before following through with another attack. Following Raiken’s example, August started off her attack with another Sword Art, choosing to hold her blade diagonally this time. The glow was similar, but she found this angle to be much more comfortable when it came to maneuvering the sword.
Following up quickly in the same strike, August pushed the sword across the boar’s hide in the opposite direction. The Sword Art didn’t activate this time, but August hadn’t expected it to. She knew that they had a cooldown period; it was simply easier for her to just make the move motion but in reverse to attack the boar.
Farms had done his own share of damage, but it was clear that his attack was much more powerful than his. She expected no less from him given the fact that he managed to take the previous boar down in just two strikes. It was taking August and Raiken considerably longer, but neither of them had good swords. She could see her boar’s HP bar drop below half, indicating that it wasn’t going to take the two of them much longer to defeat it.
“I wish I wasn’t so fragile,” August laughed as she moved out of the way for Raiken to strike. She felt extremely underwhelming to be fighting creatures in street clothes. She felt exposed, as if one stab could pierce straight through abdomen. Even so, she didn’t feel as frightened as before. Having someone like Farms watch their backs while they attacked put her mind at ease. Maybe one day she’d be able to take up the same role for others as well.

Raiken barely notice the man speak, most of her attention was on the boar that August had just attacked twice. It was distracted by the man allowing the girl to attack it, without warning Raiken held her blade to the side with the tip barely touching the ground. It started to glow once more declaring that she was about to use another sword art to follow up her strike.
Raiken quickly rushed at the boar, bringing her blade up against it's side. The blade slashed straight through the boar leaving a red grid behind signalling that the boar was taking damage from the strike. Without hesitation, Raiken brought the blade back down towards the boar inflicting another wound but this time it was in the opposite direction.
Jumping back, the boar squealed in pain from the four attacks that it had just suffered. Raiken tore her eyes away from the boar to see if her fight partner was doing ok with the fight. "Are you doing ok?" She asked August, out of some concern for the girl. She could be tired from swinging around a blade that she wasn't use to for all Raiken knew.

Eyes shifted to his other party members, a proud smile appearing on his face as he watched them work together. It was nice to see them working so hard despite their equipment. If things hadn't gone so quickly he could have helped them with that. Maybe for the last boar he can give them what they need and then let them handle things themselves. Hopefully they didn't feel bad about him helping as much as he had so far.
Farms thrust his spear out once at the boar, causing it to immediately burst into crystals. That left only the one the girls were fighting and the one that was still uninjured. Bracing himself for impact Farms would pound his fist against his chestplate once more, letting out a shout. "Come!" Both of the boars responded to his call, charging forward and colliding with his armor once again. Sure it hurt, but it was worth it for those two to get some combat practice.
His attention turned to August for a moment, an almost excited smile appearing on his face. "I could make you some armor if you like. Both of you." He sounded surprisingly casual despite the fact that he was currently being assaulted by two over sized pigs. "I'm more of a craftsman than a fighter, really. If either of you would like some plate or chain armor it would really be no problem."
